What a nice-looking truck! Glad you got it home safely :)

If it's hot outside, like in the upper 80s or 90s, my A3 will run between 200 and 220 degrees with the engine fan cycling on and off. I think the fan is supposed to kick on at 220 degrees. Under normal driving conditions the transmission oil temperature should be a bit cooler than the engine temperature.

Very nice truck, congratulations!

I just traded an M35A2 even for an M35A3, with a friend who wants to build a replica Vietnam gun truck.
Sounds like an uneven swap, but my A2 has all new tires, and his A3 tires are trash. That one will get a trailer ride home.

Cheers

Congratulations on your trade! Depending on how original you want your truck, perhaps consider throwing on some pre-loved 395s for now. That's what I have currently. However, I'm considering buying new 365/80R20 tires the next tire change I do.

HDN, I will sacrifice originality for safety, as I know all the original style tires in surplus are all old now. 395s are most likely, at least in the short run, because I can source those nearby.
I'll look into the 365s, though, and thank you for the suggestion.

Sorry for the thread drift, Elohim, but you've been on here a long time, you know we tend do that. ;)

Cheers

I chose my words poorly - I meant the original look. 14.5R20 and 365/80R20 tires are equivalent size. I found that out from hours of research on this forum sometime ago :) They're about 43 inches in diameter while the 395/85R20 tires are about 46 inches in diameter. I find that from some angles, though, the deuces look like they're wearing clown shoes with 395s mounted :p So I like the look of the smaller tires more. But the pre-loved 395s aren't as expensive at $200-$400 a tire. New 365s are around $700-$900+ a tire. CSM Army Tire is selling used 365s for $500 each.

So I can use this now? :ROFLMAO:

But to fix the thread, I'm pretty sure the A3 @Elohim1 just brought home has 395s mounted. From pics they posted sometime ago in another thread, I could tell the tire size by the size of the gap between the tandem axle.

No, you were clear, I understood your meaning. ;)
And I'm glad you clarified that the two tire sizes were pretty much the same. The European way of sizing tires is obtuse and confuses me, I'm not metrically skilled. With 43-14.50R20, I don't have to do any calculating to know how tall and wide that tire is.

And yes, that was completely appropriate.

Cheers
