hey guys hope your well. I just acquired an Mep-807a 2009 model year with a cat engine. It’s in great shape and has about 1100 hrs. The bad it throws a code that says high voltage detected on the low voltage side which doesn’t allow it to run unless you do a battle short and bypass it then it will run and produce power. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Look here. Read the -10 starting instructions. Then look in the -24 for troubleshooting.

Did you hold the S1 (Start Switch) up until the Volts and Hertz stabilized? Release of the S1 before the set has stabilized often causes faults.

Did you reset the fault, before and after starting, to see if that worked, before using the S7, (Battle Short)?

No had no idea of any of those procedures. The more I read and find out the dumber I feel. I thought it was a simple start and go. Would you know if this unit would be able to be converted to single phase? It has the 12 lead board.

You will have to do that manually. The first step is get it going so become familiar with what the books say and then we go from there.
Yes correct, I’m going to read into it tonight and also try the suggested steps and see if that gets it going I also read that it could be configured incorrectly and might have to be reconfigured referring to the DVR

With a 12 lead head its possible to convert to single phase, The problem is with all the electronic monitoring. You'll probably piss off the monitors 6 ways from sunday.

Hahaha kinda the same luck
I have with my wife I saw a fella on YouTube that rerouted some wires for the monitoring system to keep it happy but I believe it was a 30kw and an older model

Thats probably Matt's video on a 005. I've done a modified version of that procedure on an 005 and 004(my modes 004 is actually about 25 feet from me at the moment). Those sets are dumb as a brick, but reliable. With those it's not as much of a monitoring system but the voltage regulation system which is just looking at the output voltage versus it's adjusted reference output and adjusting the field to keep them as close to the same as possible. The newer sets have the same system except they also have external monitors to watch the output.

Yes correct I think that is the video I saw. But I’ll get to that once I get the unit running properly

Absolutely the right set of priorities.

If you don't mind me asking what are you planning to use such a large set for?

Don’t mind at all, I would like to use it as a back up unit for my home and shop and throw a buddy cord to my neighbor when there are power outages

Okay I do believe you are winning the prize for the most amount of overkill on this one
Well my home alone uses up to 300 amps of service. And my shop 150 so im not to sure about over kill in this scenario. Before any one ask I have 3 5 ton ac units in my home with 20 foot ceilings which make cooling a nightmare aside from all other appliances and pumps.

You have a 300 amp service, I doubt you are routinely pulling 300 amps.

This is kind of one of those things where you need to measure log and track current usage to appropriately size a generator.

Wet stacking is something to look out for and fuel consumption
