NO I.... me, coachgeo does not need to replace motor (hope so at least). Just saw on one marketplace and that reminded me that; don't recall having seen that discussed and might be a worthy discussion to have ... sort of a preemptive strike (or benefit) discussion.

Have seen cummins etc. over and over but pretty sure not much thought on the 7.3 ford which many swear by...

I know nothing about this specific application, but I do know anything is possible with a little fab work, and possibly a bell housing adapter

What's going on Coach, good to see you again! My limited experience take is the CAT seems to be easy enough to get a replacement for so why mess around. I mean a fire breathing Cummins sounds fun but..... As for the ford, I personally would never, but that's just my prejudice against Ford so.

The 7.3 is related to the 3126 in sharing the same jointly designed high pressure fuel system.

It's a bit wider and a V8 so would have to see if it will easily fit down in-between the frame rails

Air compressor might be interesting. I assume it would be belt driven? Idk.

Being a military technician..... What is this "Ford" you speak of? For what I assume are historical reasons, the Army seems to have got a bad taste for Ford and Dodge sometime in the 70's and their whole lineup of smaller vehicles has heavy ties to GM, and then the also drifted away from Cummins on the big truck side. It's all legacy GM, CAT, and Allison now.

The JLTV used a 400 HP BANKS tuned Duramax..... Guessing those are going to end up in the surplus channels eventually. The JLTV is being dropped by big Army. Marines still going to use them I think. Likely be crate motors for those sailing the surplus seas.

Yea i believe ford had initially fielded the international 7.3 LP mechanical diesel in their first diesel civilian truck. Then they licensed HEUI from cat and produced the 6.0. Like most all firsts, it has it’s issues, but many have modified them and have made them quite reliable. Ford, like Toyota with its initial EFI teething problems with the 2.4 and 3.0 morphing into the very solid 2.7 and 3.4, Ford morphed the 6.0 into the 6.7 and fixed most of the issues. I don’t follow them too closely, but I was thinking that they re-imagined the 7.3 in a HEUI configuration. I havn’t played with fords since the 6.0:)

significantly wider than a inline 6, probably not as tall above the crank but the rounded doghouse edges will limit the height at width. Then there are other issues, such as interfacing a light duty diesel onto a medium duty transmission(have no idea what interface Ford designed). If it is HEUI you will need to figure out how to get TPS into the trans controller… the ford HEUI does not use a engine lift pump, but a frame mounted 60PSI electric pump, like many EFI vehicles. Issues with them and the pressure reg in the 6.0 is where we learned that HEUI injectors do not long survive low primary feed pressures. There were a couple vendors who offered low fuel press idiot light kits for the 6.0.

And as general mentioned, the air compressor will be fun…
