Are Wiesels being released now?

Someone on another forum just posted a slightly modified Wiesel, obviously at a camp or show.

I haven't heard about them being released, or even parts being released, but if anyone knows something......

Or for that matter if anyone has parts for them, I'd like to hear about that too!

No, not the m29 Weasel - the Wiesel 1/2 light recon from the Bundeswehr. I think that we've got seven or so for test purposes in the U.S., but I can't find any more info on them.

Those test models are on loan and will not ever be released but shipped back to Germany.

Dangit, that's what I was thinking was probably going to happen.

Of course, when someone goes out of business, strange things happen LOL.

I'll still keep looking for other parts. I know that the track uses lots of commericial Audi and other car parts. I really would like to look at one of them, perfect size to keep in the garage, and lots cheaper to repair than a Scorpion or similiar.

I doubt very much it would be cheaper to maintain than a CVRT. I've had 11 CVRT's and and AUDI. No comparison. Even with shipping, CVRT parts are pretty cheap.

Hmm. Thanks for that info B3, I thought that the vehicle specific stuff, especially the drivetrain on the CVRT series would be much more pricey than on the Wiesel. I'd still like to find more information about them, gotta keep digging I guess. I'll have to check on CVRT stuff too, need to brush up on prices and availability. Been a while since I considered armor, all sorts of things change.

I could use my friends vat account here, he has an off-road shop. I am unemployed here in Heidelberg. I would love to grab some stuff in Europe while I am here. Is it anything like a DRMO? I know a lot of stuff is bought from Europe, but I don't know how or where!

Sorry for the hijack.

VEBEG is somewhat like DRMO. Go ahead and do a search for them, I think it's VEBEG.DE. Used to be only auf deutsche, but I seem to remember they were moving to lots of sales to english speaking folks, that might have changed. I seem to remember, back in the days when we were dealing in 'mogs and etc that you couldn't buy armor though.

No worries about the hijack - if you buy a Wiesel, I'll hate you though.

VEBEG is a private firm licensed to do disposal. One of very few. I doubt you will ever see armor go this route, however. Wiesels are still very much in use and will be for a long time. There are not so many that they would reduce numbers especially when they are deployed to Afghanistan.

Yah, B3, I looked at the production numbers, far fewer made than I thought. Probably can't get that VBL either, LOL.

I'm striking out here, I tell ya! Striking out!

At least I see someone has imported some Saxons to the states, that's pretty cool. Now if they'd just bring in a Casspir, I'd start saving my pennies.

Not looking for armor. I have seen a bunch of german bundeswehr jerry cans in great shape and wondered where they are coming from.
