No. The later versions were 4l60E 4l65E and were electronically controlled. The 700R4 did not need a computer to work. BUT to make the 700R4 bullet proof parts are swapped out of the 4l65E. Do a search and you will find all you need to know. I will be doing this swap but it will be one of the last things I do on this build.
It is best to find a donor vehicle that had a 6.2 in it. There are some diesel specific linkage parts for the TV cable you will need. Input shaft of the current transfer case will need swapped as well. The adapter compensates for the longer tranny case so driveshaft mods usually aren't required.
