The 814 is so long, that I have to wear two watches, as the ass end is in another time zone. I am looking for the Mk I bike that was issued so you can reach the another end of the bed in a timely fashion :jumpin:
I was thinking more along the lines of how many of our short bridges your headlights would cross before your tail lights ever got on the bridge. You could build one whale of a camper on that chassis. :driver:

Seems a shame to do much to it though, we just never see them running around. Glen

singles look great and hold there own in most places but daulls are a classic look and hold there own just as good too.
NDT's look dated to me (classic on an M220 or older unless you have a perfectly period correct truck) and singles appear more 21st century (or 1990's). NDT's definitely spoke for themselves at Haspin and you can't beat their price!

I'm certainly no expert, but watching gimp and you go through the same night time mudhole, it seemed the super singles tended to "float" up on the mud and loose traction a little sooner. BIG FUN EITHER WAY!!! :jumpin:

This is you, Tom?

Yeah Dan, that was me coming up out of that hole. And to those arborists out there, I just have to say that gimpyrobb loosened the tree up a lot beforeI took it out! rofl

I'm still waiting on someone to have some photos or a video of that mudhold from the nite ride. My headlights and radiator will never be the same again

At first, the NDT's were kicking my truck's worn 15.5 XL's butt and I was starting to reconsider installing singles. Then I remembered that I still had my tires at 65-70 psi for the road. After I let them down to about 20-25 psi (I think 25 psi was a little too low for the steers, they looked a little bulgey, I'll proably do 30 psi next time) it made a huge difference. With traction I used torque to climb rather than inertia and wheel speed. I do think that most everyone can at least agree that singles look better than NDT's, right?
I like my dual NDT's. They look.....correct. But I will admit those big singles do look so awesome...especially on that big beast of yours Shawn. I was also surprised at how well the NDT's did in the mud. [thumbzup]

Why wouldn't you think the NDTs would do well? The truck was designed that way for a reason.

I prefer to look at a truck that has the correct tires on it. Singles are fine on the newer trucks but not for the older ones but that's just my opinion.

Thanks for saying what I missed Steve. That's been my stance for the beginning. The trucks were designed to be off road capable vehicles from the beginning with duals. Like I said, singles are better in some instances, but for all around performance, I still think the duals do slightly better.

Its actually the military's stance that singles do better off road, they used the duals for cargo capacity and stability. This has been proven at Aberdeen(the base not the event). I have long said the duals do just fine, but the singles have just a slight edge. It should be no surprise to anyone.

Maybe we should apply for a govt. grant to perform our own studies???

This subject has been asked so many times it's not even funny. Unless you can get the same truck, in the same conditions with the same driver/driving style every time and keep everything exactly the same, it's always going to be a matter of opinion. A truck with duals might hit a mud hole just a bit faster than a truck with singles and make it through where the singled truck did not, or vise-versa. Driver "A" might hit a hill and get on the throttle just a bit sooner than driver "B". The slight differences like that can be the difference between a successful test or a failed test. I can tell you one thing for sure...the difference in performance characteristics is so slight I would hate to have to be the judge of it.
