nice . the further you mount it forward the less departure angle you will loose. but it still has to be far enough that the trailer wont hit when turning . you probably have it just about right where it is now you could probably go a few more nches forward if you wanted .

I thought long and hard about a trailer hitch and designed a custom job that pins to the two rear shackle brackets and then would be braced and pinned to the frame cross member just behind the axle. Four cotter pins and the whole thing could be removed.

I was hoping to find a reputable welder who would build it for less than the Curt hitch would cost.

I found a guy who would do it and took the truck down to have it built and installed. So he tells me that he is just going to take a regular hitch he has laying around, cut the frame brackets off of it and weld it into the frame that I designed. We went out to a box trailer behind the shop and he pulls out a Curt hitch... the exact one that is listed in this thread. So I ask what he would charge me for just the hitch and forget about building the quick attach and he says "$20.00 and it is yours"...... SOLD:jumpin:

Tacticaldoc" saw mine (still just clamped onder the back of my truck). He really liked it, and ordered the same one too. It arrived last week and I helped him install it on his truck. Maybe he will post a couple of photos.

You sold me Milman. Just ordered a Curt at $199.71 including shipping. Bargain. It will go on my bobber. Much easier to handle a trailer with a short truck. I have a couple of receivers but not as substantial as the curt. It will handle my Bobcat and trailer.:grd:

Any reason not to use the CURT 15530? It's still class V+ rated and already has a 2" receiver. Visually, they're almost identical and are both for the same factory application. Since a deuce is only rated to tow 10,000 lbs, the difference between 18k on the 15605 and 15k on the 15530 should be irrelevant. No?

The best part is that you can get the 15530 for $164.

Larger one is actually cheaper.

Curt 15605 Class V Hitch IDC Heavy Duty Receiver

But I'm w/ you, seems to almost be overkill, and w/ the smaller one no adapter needed. Dimensions are slightly different on them though, even though they claim they fit the same model trucks.

I went with the 15530 no shipping or handling charges so delivered to the house for a total of $163. I don't need an adapter for it either. Its only slightly less capable regarding tongue weight and total weight to tow and exceeds the TM limits anyway !

Great info here !

I used to work at curt and I know if you had a vehicle that they didn't have a hitch designed for you could give your vehicle to them and they would design the hitch and you would get a free hitch out of the deal. side note I know when I left they just started to manufacture wiring harnesses in house I wonder if they could design a camper or standard plug with a little 12v step down integrated some how?

receiver hitch

Finally found time to install my hitch on my M35A3 the other day. It took about 4 hours from start to finish. Had to call a buddy to help hold it in place untill the first two bolts were in, but I Like It Alot !! Just the right height for my trailer.
