    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Example picture Here is the picture of the truck. It doesn't look like you will need much to put it back to this condition, most of the major parts are still present, looks like you would need a brush guard and some lighting and mirrors.

    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Checking my library, I found a picture of the truck on page 156 of World War Two Military Vehicles Transport & Half-tracks, by G.N. Georgano. The picture shows it functioning as a prime mover for a 4000 gal tanker.

    Tow Baring a CUCV

I towed my M1008 back from French Camp with a standard MILSPEC medium towbar. I dropped the rear drive shaft, unlocked the front hubs and unlocked the steering wheel. It towed fine at 55 mph. I would double check the front tire air pressure because uneven pressure makes it track to one side and...

    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

The fact that you drove it home is the best part! I am helping a friend restore his 1942 International Crash Truck, there is very little information on this, but that has not stopped him. I am sure you will find a lot of support here and the information will come when needed. Good luck and I...

    what to buy? $

Safety is always a good idea, a good 10 lb. fire extingusher or have the one on the truck(if any) serviced and retagged. Maybe add a good first aid kit to the BII.

Motor problem, cuts out at speed.

Problem solved. Thank you for the replies. I fixed the hesitation problem by adjusting the float, then things ran great for a while then it died. Turned out the electronic ignition module went out. After that was replaced, it runs better then ever. Thank you all for all your help.

    Electronic Ignition installation question

UPDATE: I received a copy of the instructions, the red and black condenser wires go on the left (positive side) of the coil, the green goes to the right (negative side) of the coil, the black wire from the module is ground and attached to the right side coil retaining clamp. I made sure to...

Motor problem, cuts out at speed.

UPDATE: 5/31/09 Thank you, all of you for your assistance. I did check the float level and found it was off, I adjusted it and that fixed the hesitation problem, but the motor still cut out at high speed. I continued to check to see if it was electrical or fuel, so I hooked up a timing light...

M151 (original flavor) fuel filter question: NAPA equivalent

This appears to be a fuel pump from an early Ford 260 or Ford 289 engine. I owned a 1964 1/2 Mustang and early 1965 Falcon Sprint that had the exact same fuel pump. I replaced them on these cars because you will never get a good seal after you replace the filter. It is just pressed steel and...
