New aftermarket radiator maker in the ring.

I gave it a good once over before I had it installed, and it's built really well. Just as good as the other aftermarket high-priced replacements. I had it installed by a local mechanic that used to work on Humvees for the military, and he said it went in just like a military replacement would...

Stuck plug on old control box.

Thank you for your concern on the difficulty on soldering the plug in. The mechanic has already inspected the plug setup, and said it would be a lot easier for him to install a new plug than having to install the whole harness, and didn't want me wasting money on a whole new harness.

Stuck plug on old control box.

The mechanic worked on HMMWV's when he was in the service. He just didn't know if the plug or harness was available, and didn't want to screw it up. Once he saw the corrosion was the problem, he let me know as soon as he found out, and luckily there was one decent person who let me know where...

Stuck plug on old control box.

    Thank you very much.

Stuck plug on old control box.

If you did not read correctly, the old box was acting up once in a while, as in it was getting ready to crap out. I already have a new box and controller on hand, so I don't have to get anything except a new plug. The new box and controller are a matching set. The garage mechanic was spinning...

Stuck plug on old control box.

I have a local garage upgrading a few things on my HMMWV, and everything is almost done. The only problem is he can't get the top plug off from the old control box. He said it felt like it broke free, but it's just spinning, and not coming up. The old box was acting up once in a while, so I...

New aftermarket radiator maker in the ring.

I've been looking for a radiator for about a half a year now, maybe more, and found a new competitor in the ring. If you need a new radiator, and don't want to pay a fortune for a radiator, check out https://www.championradiators.com/product/CCHVB For me it was $329.93 shipped.

    Mechanical speedometer delete question?

I just don't want to chew up the gear in the transfer case if that is what has failed.

    Mechanical speedometer delete question?

The speedometer has recently failed on my 1988 M1038. This is why I'm looking into this. I haven't had the time lately to troubleshoot the problem, and have no idea when I'll get the time to in the near future. I'm sure it's probably not good to drive it with a broken speedometer, so it's...

    Mechanical speedometer delete question?

I'm looking at replacing the cable driven speedometer setup, with a GPS unit, to get away from mechanical failures in the system. Would I just be able to remove the 90 degree assembly from the transfer case, and block it off with a plug? If not, what exactly would I have to do? Thank you for...

A few questions about my M-1038

I don't plan on taking my vehicle to any off road events. I'm sure it would be fun, but I plan on having it around for a long time.

A few questions about my M-1038

Since my last post; I have assembled and installed the supplemental ground harness, installed a license plate bracket for the front, a license plate light for the rear plate, passed NY inspection, transferred and obtained my title for NY, added another application of Flex Seal to the top...

A few questions about my M-1038

Thank you to all on all of the major points. I have done fluid checks, and gone through the basics before I even drove it the first time. My ground seems to be intact at the moment, but I will soon be upgrading to the supplemental grounding harness, which looks easy enough to make myself. I...

A few questions about my M-1038

I've never had a vehicle with a fan that huge, so I never thought of that being the extra noise. The first time it kicked on, it startled me, and I thought something major happened. I either need a new temp sender, or the guage is bad, because the needle never moves on it. I have the sender...

A few questions about my M-1038

Hello everyone, I'm totally new to this whole experience of owning a HMMWV, but have always wanted one for quite a while now. I started my search a couple months back, and finally pulled the trigger on a 1988 M-1038. It has 2,000+ miles on a 6.5, but it still has the original 3 speed...
