    It turned out that though I have a 1984 M1010 and had ordered a lock cylinder for correct year of vehicle, it apparently had an older steering column in it from the factory (I feel certain with only 19K miles on the truck).     My plan is to cover the new filler like the drivers side in the last picture. My welding is terrible, especially in the aluminum but I will get batter as the work progresses.
