http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?36435-My-CUCV-spin-on-fuel-filter-mod heres one write up. Mine had very old fuel in it I added a quart of trans fluid then changed my filter once I used that tank up. There are additives, but I use the 2 stroke oil since I buy it by the gallon for...
I would worry more about the electrical and the engine ingesting water. Usually your fan belt will slip when it is that wet, which is a reason alot of offroaders run electric fans the belt can slip for so long after a water hole you can start to overheat.
First, Personally I would switch your fuel filter set up to a spin on, thats the first mod I did to mine. Alot of long crank time/ performance issues can be traced back to the box filter.
Second, I would assume that the heater core is bad, It gets cold at night in the dessert (snows here...
Should be relatively easy to get out since it was tightened till it broke instead of breaking while removing, Irwin used to sell reverse drill bits and easy out sets. Stuff like that I have had the reverse drill bit pull it out while drilling.
I am currently overseas but planning to build a dirt bike carrier that will fit on the rear shackle mounts of my M1009. I dont know if someone can do me a favor and measure the tube that the mounts are made out of. I know they have a 1" hole. Kinda want to model it after the one winch mount I...
I did mine when it was about 20 degrees, I kept it inside then after cutting I would hold it infront of my turbo heater until it was sticky. I still had a couple pieces that didnt stick well.
Could still be a brake caliper, jack up the truck see if both wheels spin freely by hand, otherwise tire or alignment assuming all the front end parts are good
I would say pull it then, there is a gasket but I would make sure both surfaces are clean and use RTV. I personally prefer RTV over alot of different gaskers.
It should just be the 4 bolts holding it on, but I think it would actually be harder to remove the seal since the cover will dance around while you hitting it. If you have a sharp chisel you cut the steel part of the seal, That steel part is the only think holding it in since it is a press...
The bushing that is in there is more like a cam bearing, most are bronze and a pain to do. If it was the original seal you took out I would replace it and see how it goes no leaks no worries. Usually 2 inches of lift isnt enough to need a sye. You can mark your shaft then take it out and...
Yeah there is no easy way to do it I have had some I had to put a couple sheetmetal screws into and pry them out using the head of the screw, Careful not to go too far and damage anything else.
I doubt it with the age of the truck I would lean towards just a bad seal,
But that bushing being...
