Thanks to all, I have some things to try now. I am leaning toward fuel / carb problem, but am going to check points also. When we checked the air cleaner there were wasps and wax in it as well as some pieces of corn and acorns. in the oil. So we dismantled everything and cleaned it. Someday...
We been trying to get this 52 M135 tuned up and tightenup for the upcoming parade season. We use it to ride veterans in all the parades in our area. It was my Dad'esdream for his truck, and it has served uo well for some years now.
We finally got six new tires and tubes on the truck and will...
I'd have no trouble staying with 24V. Would an aftermarket switch designed for 12 V work for 24V?
As for the wiring, our truck is needing some re-wiring work as it is. I think I'd be better off just wiring in / adding, a totally seperate system. Much simpler I think, whether 12 or 24 Volt...
We plan on adding turn signals to our 53 M135. It is still 24 volt, but I believe we can just go off the first battery for power, and install a 12 V system? But not sure about that? Will the ground cause a problem, being that all the other lights, etc, are 24V?
Also, and suggestions on a good...
Hello to ya'all! Have not been on here for some time. So we bought 6 NEW 11.00 x 20 military tires, tubes and liners. All new. And even found folks that will change them for us at a very reasonable price. I do not want anyone getting hurt by these rims.
We had been running 55# in the old...
So I changed the oil to Rotella T 15 W 40. At first seemed to have higher oil pressure. But after a good run it is about the same. At idle it is near zero? Could this be normal for these engines? I have heard some so it is?
I sure don't like it. But it runs fine and seems to be ok, but...
Still has the synthetic blend in it. I do not like that but have seen other places that a lot are using synthetic??
Runs good, sounds good. But does have a tappet sound happening. Also once wormed up, has very low oil pressure especially at idle. Just about ZERO.
Wonder if using the Rotella...
I need a rim for my Dad's 1952 M135. Size tire is 11.00 x 20 split rim. I am going to post in classifieds also, but am hoping someone can help me out here in south western Pa area, that I can go get it. Could even use two. But need one for sure as we have no spare. Have lots of other rims...
If this is the wromg location to post this I apologize, but I am stumped. I have found very helpful info on here relating to my Son's 1952 M135, and hope I can get some help again?
I just purchased a 1953 Willys CJ3B with the OHV engine.
In my other old flat head and the M135 we were using...
Thanks guys. OK, I have some 24 ga wire and am going to make up the loop to the push button. The wire I am replacing has an in-line fuse. Do I need that? Seems like just another place for a bad contact?
I appreciate all the advice. We worked on it for years with Dad and now that he is gone my brothers and I decided to give it to Ben because he is the only veteran of five Grandsons. Dad wanted to restore it to haul veterans in parades and other ceremonies and such. Which we been doing for...
My Son's 1952 M135, inherited from my Daddy has been modified to standard shift tranny. Part of that is a different starter motor that is powered by a push button on the dash. When Dad did this he just used a piece of light electric extension cord for the two wires need. We often get a...
I must have missed your earlier comment regarding a tire coming apart? But how could I find it? Would I just change the other front wheel? I already did the drivers side.
Thanks to all as always.
UPDATE.
Got to spend a few hours with my Son on this truck this afternoon.
First, It has that fabricated brace between the springs added.
We found a lot of play in the pitman arm so we adjusted it up snug plus a little. We do not have a scale to use per the TM. I will get something to use if I...
