Had the truck for a few years. Had it locked in Low when stuck in the mud. Drove it home with no noticeable issues and parked. Few weeks later, something was binding up and I thought it was the brakes being caked up or corroded due to the moisture, gave it a bit more throttle then it started to...
Good Afternoon All,
Been having issues with my HMMWV recently, went to take my truck out for a ride and when I get above roughly 5 mph I start to hear slamming coming from the driveline. Issues persist regardless of transfer case gear and vehicle gear. Thinking I might be needing to take apart...
Will try to get a compression test in soon. I think I hear some lifter chatter, but a friend disagreed with me, so that might be a potential issue as well.
I have a 1985 M998 with the GM 6.2L Diesel with some issues. Off start the vehicle will run fine until the motor gets under heavy load, where it will start to smoke out the exhaust. Once the vehicle is warm, it will consistently burn oil and struggles to hit 30MPH. I just repaired an overheat...

It was definitely burned ATF. The tranny shifts well overall, except when shifting from 3rd to 4th (35 MPH). At this point it just hangs there and at times will not shift no matter what I try. Occasionally it'll shift if I let off and coast for 10 seconds or so. I am starting to wonder if there...
When I drained the oil the first time, it seemed to be pure ATF (albeit burned). Is there a good way to clean the system without draining multiple and filling times?
Still looking for vehicles? I have the following: Tan 1985 HMMWV, CAMO 1993 M35-A3, and a CAMO 1978 M35-A2. I could probably bring the HMMWV, and the A3. If needed or wanted, I'd be happy to drive down from MI. Just let me know soon!
Was your truck struggling to shift, and when it did, slam down in gear? If so, I had the same issue a couple of months ago. I never fully figured out the issue, but did make some headway with cycling through new ATF, as well as an interior and exterior filter change.
