    CUCV Stereo Install

axelfinn, as you can see in my initial pictures, I ran right from the existing fuse panel (which has worked fine for me). The only thing I ran directly to the battery was the sub I put in behind the seat. That being said, if you plan on making any other electrical additions to your rig I would...

    CUCV Stereo Install

Marcus, I definitely see your point! I tapped the stereo itself into the fuse box but for the sub's amp, I ran a wire under my floor mat, through the firewall, and directly to the battery to help distribute the load. I just grounded the sub to a bolt I drilled in a wire brushed portion of the...

Go figure huh? Fingers crossed for you, I don't know how I lived without mine! We had better be seeing some pictures by the end of the weekend

    CUCV Stereo Install

No problem, glad I could help! For the record, I did it without dynamatting and haven't had any concerns. Another alternative would be to mount them under the dash where they would be on a "normal" truck. Probably a little better clarity than down by your feet... Something to think about!

    CUCV Stereo Install

RiceBurner, I ended up putting them in the door panels. I used a hole saw on the plastic panel than trimmed away what I needed for a snug fit with some cutting shears. You need to also cut a hole for the rear of the speaker behind the panel into the actual metal of the door, so i'm sure the same...

    CUCV Stereo Install

I realize they don't come with a stereo as my M1009 didn't either. It looks like it was put in by the guardsmen at Ft. Ripley. I'll definitely remember what you said about the batteries, although I wasn't getting any power regardless. Can't be too careful! And you can see where I tapped into the...

    CUCV Stereo Install

Fits like a glove! only required a little trimming here and there. Next comes the fun part... I used the same template as I used on the plastic to mark up the solid... metal... dash... She definitely sparked a little bit so beware! After about a half hour of chopping, maybe a couple choice...

    CUCV Stereo Install

Since I hadn't seen a good "How to" on stereo installs here we go! I figured as much as I loved listening to the constant roar of that 6.2 at highway speeds, that stock radio wasn't going to cut it anymore... So to anyone looking to make a little upgrade to the M1028, that I thought made a world...

CARC paint;how to remove-yet another question...

This stuff works like magic... I'm currently stripping my m1028 and it's been a god send compared to sanding... only about $10 a quart:) Klean-Strip AR343-QT - Paint Remover | O'Reilly Auto Parts

Gotta love it! The little things do add up though... I was going to lift my m1009 but i just dropped a bench in the front and carpeted it... so I figured why not just by another truck instead being a lift and tires would run me about $2000?

Bringing down property values since 2011 Nothing feels better than being 18 and blowing all of my money on military vehicles... and college... I guess... I'll be putting BFG 33s on the m1009 and repainting the m1028 tan with black trim this spring! Take that rich suburban kids driving daddy's...

    1986 M1009 Fuel Tank Size

The tank in my m1009 only holds about 17 gallons... am I missing something here?
