After reading some of the related posts on this, I thought I'd post my error...
During replacement of my relay switch, I failed to disconnect my batteries prior to removal of the old switch. Voila! smoke. I installed the new GP switch and now it doesn't cycle, click, nothing. No 'wait' light...
Then the Bosch or Hella H4 conversions would work well with the xenon PIAA bulbs. PIAA's are not cheap, but they're really bright and I've never had a problem with them, plus, the Bosch and Hella light conversions still retain a stock appearance.

I'm doing mine soon as well. The old red polyurathane ones I had in are pounded out. I'm installing new Energy Suspension graphite impregnated ones with greasable bolts. Replacing the remaining rubber ones while I'm at it as well. The whole works, my cost, was around $100-
