16r20 XML's on HEMMT rim measurement please.

I had a long explanation. But, the short version goes like this. I have some 5 ton axles that I want to narrow. I want 78" total width between the tire sidewalls. I don't have the rims and tires and don't have room to store them for the next year while building the axles. I will be using...

    Need help identifying this rim

It is on a auction site and they only have the one for sale. I have requested stamping numbers with no response from the seller. There is no point in buying just one rim to find out it is something I will have a heck of time finding the other four. That is it juanprado. If you happen to have...

    Need help identifying this rim

Anyone have any idea what this rim came off of? They have an offset I have never seen before. The seller says they have an 11" pilot hole. Any help would be greatly appreciated. http://i398.photobucket.com/albums/pp70/cerial0411/Buggy%20Build/rimoffset_zps3c8d2ff6.jpg

Combat wheels, FMTV wheels, HEMTT wheels

First off thank you Gringeltaube showing the technical drawings they have been a terrific help in planning my build. Your post should be in a sticky along with the technical manuals. Second they do make Aluminum MRAP wheels. They are out there, just expensive, and will not work for my...

I need info on selectable 5 ton locker's

Talked with Adam's offroad he has been a great help. The abuse he puts these through under his bronco is why I wanted a set. Gearheart is very close to where I live and they will take these axles further strength wise(knuckles, hubs, shafts, shorten, truss) once I am ready. He actually told me...

I need info on selectable 5 ton locker's

Update Update: I found a set they were out of a forestry and fire truck. The id tag shows 240 series from Rockwell. They have 5.81 gears which I will be swapping to 10.26. They came with half round 1710 u joints which I will try to reuse. All three have damage to the locking mechanism in...

I need info on selectable 5 ton locker's

I did find the axles I was describing. I was told they are out of a forestry/fire truck. They are a 240 series 5+ ton Rockwell's from the 70's with a 5.81 ratio. I will be switching these to the 10.24 ratio later on which will bolt right into the 3rd members. They have half round 1710 u joints...

serious discussion of 5-ton speed increase via gearing (transmission, differential)

That is great to hear about the rpm's. I was really concerned about the oil foaming or the pinion bearings becoming hot. I was looking at using composite bearings costing 3-4 times as much as the only alternative to keeping the top of the chuck alive. By using normal bearings I can save a great...

serious discussion of 5-ton speed increase via gearing (transmission, differential)

Bringing this back up to the top to ask about your pinion bearing. I am looking at running a set of 5 tons in a expectation rig that will see stretches of highway at mostly 70. Now before everyone goes off no that this thing will weigh right around 6200 with 3440 of that being axles, brackets...

I need info on selectable 5 ton locker's

I am talking about the axles in this thread. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?61719-5-ton-air-lockers This link was within that thread has a broken link. http://mudboggers.net/threads/here-is-some-5-ton-axle-tech-and-differences.9734/ As stated before they look similar to a 5 ton...

I need info on selectable 5 ton locker's

For the last 4 years I have been getting parts around for a expedition vehicle. Originally the design and gearing was for 2.5 ton axles. But after doing lots of late night searching, talking to people about what is here and what is to come I have decided to go with 5 ton axles instead. From...
