    5 ton brush truck

Good looking truck! Wish we had one like it. Our dept. retired their duece, and went with a "modern truck", which is a 4wd international, with a crew cab, and half the water capacity of the duece. It also gets stuck in wet grass.

Does this look safe to you ?

Like someone else said, the U-bolts are there for clamping force. You know how much force is created by those ubolts being torqed down to spec? The axle is not going anywhere. It is surely not going to slide right out. Not to mention, no matter which way you turn them, it's the same basic thing...

    Alternative to Bobbing?

Seems like it would take the same amount of pressure to lift one, as it would to push the other down. And the addition of a cam linkage and chains seems like it would add parts to fail. Technically, lifting the rear axle 3" will take the same amount of force, no matter if you do it by pushing...

    Alternative to Bobbing?

I think you got what I meant. I wish I had pics of my trailer, but then again, there is alot of difference between a 24' enclosed trailer that may weigh 6500lbs at most, and a truck that triples that. It worked on the trailer, but I was just trying to make a pivot point. I was doing landscaping...

    Alternative to Bobbing?

I may be simple minded, but couldn't you just add airbags to the center axle, leaving the stock springs in place, and air them up when turning? Think of them as helper springs. You could also keep low pressure in them all the time, as any pressure difference will allow the rear tires to have...

    M916 for RV Build Project

First of all, sorry for speaking in ignorance! I thought that RV's had no CDL requirements nationwide! Should have checked before I opened my mouth, something I usualy do, but didnt this time! I'm tellin' ya! I actualy got stuck on the left side of the track, I was running true street, and...

    M916 for RV Build Project

I can vouch for this. It does not take much for a regular RV to get stuck. My parents have a new 38' with a single rear axle, and it will get stuck if you look at it wrong. You can't go near sand, and for that matter, I got stuck in the pits at Bradenton with it. That's a lot of RV to push with...

    M818/ Cummins NA250

Guys, just a side note, the 55mph speed rating you guys are quoting is at max load. the same tires on an unloaded, fairly light truck are safe at higher speeds.
