    Dare I ask this?

The gen 2 light flashes pretty consistently but disapears when she is up over 50mph. Gen 1 just has some minor glow here and there, much like what Michael said above. I will check the voltage on the alts soon. I was just more curious for long term damage if I just happened to ignore the problem...

    Dare I ask this?

Out of curiosity, what can happen if you DO NOTHING to fix the gen1 and gen2 lights. Both of them come on and I will one day fix them, but right now they just flash away. I am looking more for problems that can arise eventually. This is for an 84 m1009. Thanks for all the help, you guys are...

    adding Toyota AC to m1009...thoughts?

I wish it were that easy, but not a lot of Chevys down here in Costa Rica. They are installing it now, and they are putting it on the passenger side with it own belt, as suggested earlier. I will post pics once complete but things take a while down here....

    M1009 Tires and Lift

I thought the m1009 was a 3/4 ton technically, so would that imply a 56" length? Also, would you recommend the EZ ride or the Heavy Duty (HD) model springs? This is a daily driver with offroad use about 25% of the time bc of the roads here...thanks for the help!

    M1009 Tires and Lift

Tuff country seems to be the way to go for springs. What size would I need to "replace" the stock ones I have? 2,4 or 6" and 52 or 56" springs (front and back). Not looking for a lift, just better ride? for a 84 m1009 with 33s...

correct Bilstein shock size for m1009

its kinds of hard to tell since the old ones are still on the front. BUT, the rear does seem to only bounce once going over dirt roads, vs 800 times on the fronts. Cant wait to get the full set on, I will report back once complete. Also, what other fairly easy suspension upgrades can be made to...

correct Bilstein shock size for m1009

just bought a set of bilsteins for an 84 m1009 and the rear shocks fit but the front ones were about 3inchs short?? Does anyone have the correct sizes for this vehicle or am I missing something/part? The guy at ORW said he double checked that they were the right size....thought I would try here...

    adding Toyota AC to m1009...thoughts?

man, have been reading all the posts about AC and not very convincing stuff. Being that I am in the jungle, AC is a must. My mech is adding a Toyota unit on the passenger side of the engine. Are there any issues I should make him aware of? Also, I have heard that GM and Toyota have a deal where...

    Newbie m1009 in Costa Rica...

Just bought my first '84 m1009 with the 6.2 and I'm feeling it! It came with 33's and needs some work on the interior and body. The engine and tranny seem to be fine and 4x4 is also good. Only has 42k and was purchased from DE national guard and then driven down. If anyone knows of a good...
