    MEP-016B injector pump repair/rebuild issues

A new weekend, a new attempt to get the set running. Admittedly, I didn't check Guyfang's comments before doing my first attempt today, but I will definitely apply his suggestions once I head back outside. But, I did observe white smoke coming out of the exhaust again, telling me some quantity...

    MEP-016B injector pump repair/rebuild issues

After several months of letting it sit, I finally got back on working on the 16B. I suspected last time I tried to start the genset up after rebuilding the pump that I either didn't prime it enough, or that the mechanical pump isn't working right. So, I used the auxiliary tank pump and hooked it...

    MEP-016B injector pump repair/rebuild issues

Unless I'm missing something, section 6-3 in the -34 manual describes the removal, installation, and timing of the injector pump, but nothing about the disassembly and servicing of the pump itself. I also looked in the -24P where figure 18 and its corresponding table list the injector pump as a...

    MEP-016B injector pump repair/rebuild issues

I managed to get the pump apart by heating it up with a heat gun and then pounding the top and bottom ends against a piece of 6x4. Inspecting the parts, it looks like they are gummed up, but no signs at all of rust. I'm still working on cleaning them. The check valve and plunger and plunger...

    MEP-016B injector pump repair/rebuild issues

I have a MEP-016B that I had running around 2014. Unfortunately, it has nowhere to live except outside. I tried to periodically run it to keep it in good condition, but a few years ago, it wouldn't start anymore. Fast forward some additional time, and I realized the fuel filter cap had popped...

    5/16JIC/5-AN to anything adapter

The last step on my generator trailer project is to hook up the 90 gallon external tank to the aux in fuel pump on my MEP-003 set. I've been having a heck of a time finding an adapter to get from the 5/16JIC fitting on the pump to any standard AN fitting size. I ultimately need to get to the...

    Fuel filter housing for MEP-016B

For the past couple months, I haven't been able to get my MEP-016B started. Yesterday I tried again, and as I was operating the manual fuel pump lever, I heard a sucking sound coming from the fuel filter. Turns out, the bolt for the fuel filter housing that holds the lid on has stripped. Looking...

    60KW genset phase quandry

Wouldn't the 15KW variant of the generator been 3-phase only too? I thought 10KW was where the military drew the line between 1/3-phase and 3-phase only.

    Generator connection choices

Are the Anderson Powerpole connectors in the panel as shown an acceptable code-compliant way to hook up large gensets to transfer switches? I've been trying to find a connector to tie my MEP-003a to my house interlock that was both weather resistant, safe, and could carry the current and that...

    2016 la rally

I'm sorry I wasn't able to attend. I had some work I had to get done around the house. However, I trust everyone had a great time today; ya'll always do.

    MEP-004 purchase = lots of learning ...

If the relays are anything like the MEP-002/003 ones, each relay is actually 2 sets of contacts with one set not used. Flip the relay upside-down and you have a fresh relay.

    Affordable option for 24v solargizer?

I cleared some space in my box.

    Affordable option for 24v solargizer?

I have an original military 24 volt Solargizer new in box. PM me if interested.

    upgrade generator to digital gauges

I upgraded to Jimc's frequency and volts/amps gauges. My genset lives outside in the rain and they are still looking and working perfect. When I originally installed the gauges I was worried that they'd get waterlogged or at least have condensation on the inside, but I haven't had any issues.
