Front license and bench seat typs

Binders twine and a half hitch should keep the kiddos safe, right?

Front license and bench seat typs

I used 2 self tapping screws for the plates front and rear. Interestingly, there were already holes in the right spots on my national guard GP truck.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Let me know how flipping the side boxes on the helmet top goes. Might do the same.

camping tent in bed? Two man configuration

I have an Amtech top and 4 man config. I set a queen blow up mattress in the bed and fold the rear seats down. Sleeps 2 comfortably and access is from the rear doors. Easy to park up and move in the morning too. I would think you could set up a couple poles and a cover over the blow up...

    998 6.2L Fan Clutch/Overheating Issue

Does the coolant ever bubble over when you are at 240? Or other obvious signs of overheating? Rough guess is a TDM acting up and not dropping power when it should. Next time it happens I would take a multimeter and test the 4 wire plug for power to the Cadillac valve. Then check to see if the...

Run flats, M998, sand & low tire pressure, help needed

Hey let me know how it goes; I’m thinking of taking mine to Oregon Inlet next month. The sand can be very fine and soft so airing down is recommended. I’ve been to Hatteras in various trucks and there are always people stuck there.

    Aluminum troop seats/benches

I installed a set for parades and they weigh around 20 pounds each. I think they are aluminum. They sit 4 adults or 5 children per side.

    Helmet top install question

I like the helmet top, especially the tool boxes for camping. It is more waterproof than the soft top. One strange thing is the rear doors don’t fit the openings well at all. The top rear corner of my soft doors are a different shape than the openings. No idea about price since I got the helmet...

    Helmet top install question

My helmet top was installed with lots of sealant on the windshield. See pic. Other than that, there are angle brackets on the rear corners that could be fabricated. Otherwise just bolt it on. I remove mine in the summer and add troop seats.

    what does this switch do?

My M998 was at one time an S250 shelter carrier so it was upgraded with suspension parts for that configuration. Maybe yours had a previous life where that switch was in use? See where the wires go and that will give you a clue.

    what does this switch do?

I have a similar switch in the same location. It runs yellow strobe lights on my helmet top. The hot wire leaves that switch and goes down the drivers side to the lights. See where the wire goes on yours.

M1026 with 1/2 tank of fuel acted like it was empty?

Lift pump going bad? When running crack the drain on the drivers side wheel well. Apparently That could make it lose prime and not start if the lift pump can’t suck fuel from the tank.

Rattle from front of engine. Alternator?

Final update: my neighbor has a metal lathe so I turned the originally 20mm shaft collar down to 17mm and found a 17x52x16 bearing ironically from a Jaguar alternator. Fit perfectly and it’s spinning nicely again. Will replace the brushes next week and get it installed soon. All in all a $10...

Rattle from front of engine. Alternator?

Ok I’m back at it and the noise was still there. This time I pulled the ends off the alternator and here is what I found. Looks like the front bearing was greased with asphalt and the bearing wasn’t spinning. Slowly the rotor shaft was being machined away which increased the slop in the shaft. I...
