New dash design finally installed! Inspired from the F-16 jet cockpit, all aluminum and stainless, tig welded. The idea was to update the hmmwv dash and console with a newer modern look and use of some modern tech, while still keeping the 3 lever light switch pod and original start switch and...
Start easiest first.
Make sure tank has fuel. And more than 10 gallons as I have ran out multiple times, and after driving hundreds of these trucks and running out at quarter tank...know it is more common than not, (Wish I didn’t have to say that)
If no go, Check fuel solenoid, (driver side...
Newer Diesel engines definately have more power, but dealing with all the new emissions requirements and it's required particulate filters, Egr def systems, and $10k repair bills on high pressure fuel pumps when they get a little water in them and check engine lights that put you into limp mode...
Glad to hear you got your rig back up and going, and thanks for contributing to a great solution for others. Great video. If you are in a pinch you can squeeze a pneumatic blow off gun tip on the side of the fuel inlet with a plastic bag wrapped around a few small shop rags and push hard as you...
Here is some pics of the 5 ton Crewcab project (the "General") with Cummins 8.3 Hp increase. We should be done in about 60 days (feb 2016) and have full test results. Started out as a 2010 rebuilt super clean 91 M931a2 tractor with Cummins 8.3 (239 Hp), and built it into a 375-400Hp crew cab...
We had the IP sent in to have the adjustments done to the fuel plate, timing was adjusted and installed a bigger turbo and 3000 springs on a customers truck. It's a 375-400 hp modification according to spec, and the motor is awake and alert now. (No, there is still no tire burnout or anything...
Nice work. Way to get the little lady involved. Those little critters with the small paws that eat all our food and cry for no reason come in handy once in a while.
I have had to start over 30 of these things. Holding down the throttle around 50 percent while pressurizing the fuel tank with a air blower gun while someone cranks is sure fast most of the time. There is a metal fuel valve on driver side hood right above the driver front tire. open it up while...
Engine smoke could be an injector or something a little simpler than a bad engine. (although there are plenty of high priced Hummer/humvee/hmmwv rigs out there with the crap beat out of them with bad engines and trannies still hobbling down the desert.) My advise would be compression check if...
If the 3 spd transmission comes out for any reason, its always tempting to throw in a 4speed. Mpg increase to 15. Heck of a better ride on the freeway. All our Humvees are titled for Highway. Sounds like the off-road-only problems are sucky for a lot of people and that's a shame and a half that...
Sort of. The skin is aluminum, with fibrous insulation in the roof. We are putting our pot belly stove vent through the back window. (Just remove the pane and put a metal panel instead and elbow the stack. No leaks coming through the roof, and removable and restorable back to stock any time.
We have pulled about 3 Ac units out of expandos and they are sitting in our shop. Most look brand new. $100 each (you must pick up or arrange shipping, they weigh about 300lbs and thus the reason I am charging $100. To pay for my medical bills)
I put single phase 10,000 btu Ac units in and cut...
Dan here from Plan B Supply. No worries on any of our "secrets" just here to help. The stock height on the Expando van with 11r20 tires is 11'3" fully inflated, so you might squeak inside your shop on deflated tires with a spotter watching up high. If your approach into your shop is pretty...
