Thanks for the encouragement. I don't want to part it out - its just the first few comments made it sound like the event was vehicular apocalypse. Nice 50 BMG by the way.
Thanks
Thanks guys.
It sounds to me like I basically ruined the vehicle as it is my daily driver. That really sucks. I just got this thing as a few months ago and have put a pretty penny into it.... and then killed it. Anyone in MN need one for parts??
I'd hate for that to happen.... so its toast even though only the brake lights are not working? Everything else seems fine (besides the melty parts on the fuse box, of course.)
I was in the middle of nowhere in Chippewa National Forest miles off some Forest Service road when the bearings in one of my alternators went - went to the point where the alternator totally seized.
OK. Bad but I was prepared. I had an extra alternator in the back, so I stopped and swapped...

Thanks

1) Driver alternator was bad. Volt regulator was going out.
2) I go to Autozone and get a new driver's side alt (DL 7157) and switch the pulley out to account for the difference in size
3) I replace...
I'm looking at repainting my CUCV - and I found some CARC on Ebay but its $125 per gallon! Is that a pretty standard rate? Anyone know where else to find the stuff?

Flickering Cause Solved - belt was about to break - now it done broke
I figured out why the light was flickering.
I got the truck 2 weeks ago and the previous owner said it flickered to indicate that it was working - obviously not the case. It was flickering because the belt was about to bust...
