Dangier; That is a clue;I have never really torqued to specs, just snugged that delivery valve holder.Since the delivery valve holder traps the valve assembly against the inside of the injection pump head then compressing it with higher torque readings makes sense.
No I have not mixed my...
Dangier;;You are indeed talking about the same part. And I have read others on here running machines without that part.Yet both of my MEPs using old style IP as well as the later newer style IPs have them and WILL not run without them.
Onan makes a test adapter that screws onto a hydraulic pump...
Gentlemen;Earlier this summer I had problems with one of two of my MEP002a engines having its injector pump Viton spacer deteriorating. My earlier posts explained how to make one instead of paying AMBAC $38.I did manage to fabricate a spacer to get the engine running but I had to reduce the...
Muddflapp;Glad you figured your fuel problem out.I am the guy Gimpyrobb referred to about making "homemade" spacers. My Two MEPS refused to run without those spacers. Can I assume from your last post that your engine runs without that spacer?
I picked up the MEP002a for less than $400. It was a rebuilt engine only.I had to machine a steel drive plate for it,with bolted on stub shaft from Ebay, and luckily it ended up running true.
Padolin; I made a log splitter out of a MEP002a engine. Cycle time is cut in half but it splits at idle and is cheaper to run.And the day will come when gasoline will only be for the rich.Remember....diesel can run off of vegetable oil.
Gentlemen;I posted earlier with a link to Ebay on another source for this Viton spacer but I see it is not here.If you search this phrase:repair/rebuild kit DE56: ....you will find a listing for Viton spacers. According to the seller the listed 12 "lower" spacers have a dimension of 10mm; that...
Triple Jim;I used a sharp file and several freezer cycles. My arbor was a transfer punch that the hose fit onto snugly.I have read that some SS members do not have this spacer on the MEP injector pumps.Does that mean the manufacturer sealed this cavity with closely machined tolerances?
Gentlemen;I refused to pay Ambac $38 for their Viton spacer that seals/spaces the delivery valve in the MEP diesel injector pump.
I found a supplier for Viton fuel hose that matched the OD on the supply valve holder. That hose has a 10mm ID.that fits snugly over the delivery valve...
Gentlemen;I bought a injector nozzle "POP" tester to test my injector pressure release pressures.I had to adapt the high pressure piping from the tester to the nozzle. After several trips to Lowe's without success I realized that my many hydraulic fitting laying around the shop might work.After...
Gentlemen; Ambac wants $28 for a .50 cent Viton spacer + $10 shipping. Nice lady Melody says those are government prices, (we are all doomed )..........I refuse to pay that. I can get around this problem. Will post later. DonaldL.
update
Mr.Gimbyrobb;Yes I called this afternoon.I forgot it is a national holiday. All I need is that spacer. What is your list of parts and I will call first thing tomorrow. My email at home is (deleted) DonaldL.
Ps,What is the PM mean in your post?
Gentlemen; Thanks for staying interested. 10-4 to GimpyRobb on posting protocol.I was afraid I had lost my audience.
So here is what I did all weekend.Worked on my IP and have had success this Monday morning. After pulling the pump 6 different times I finally got it right and it started.Ran...
Gentlemen;Posted earlier on an older thread. After reinstalling my injector pump I now get no firing at all.Worse than before. So either my original problem is compounded or I have lost pump time.
So thanks to Mr.Jamawieb on earlier timing post I discovered that your IP pump control rod must...
