    M1078 Alternator Problem

Chief Almost all auto and airplane noise filters are added to the battery lead and grounded to the alternator case. You mentioned the noise filter was put in line. (like series). With the engine running and the radio on, start disconnecting fuses until it clears up. cheers

Starter and Alternator problems two questions

For your info. Higher voltage is much better. 24 volts over 12 volts has several features. 1/2 the amps needed to do a job, 1/2 the size of wire needed. For airplanes 1/2 the weight of the wire. All the connections, plugs, relays or solenoids contacts get 1/2 the amps to do the same job. You...

    "Charging System" warning light

Drive shafts and tire balance do not effect the alternator. The alternator bracket failure is two fold. The bottom long bolt is the wrong size, being smaller than the bracket allowing it to shake. The top bolt is even smaller than the bottom bolt, and connected to a 90 degree bent bracket...

    "Charging System" warning light

Scott; That alternator has a record of failures as stated on several threads. The mounting bracket has a issue as well. It is a 28 volt alternator with a maximum output of 100 amps. It converts the 28 volts to 14 volts using SCR's/diodes. You only have one 28 volt gauge. If the 28 volt side...

    "Charging System" warning light

Scott The light is most likely triggered by the regulator. Check voltage with a good voltmeter at the batteries. Fully Charged lead acid good battery will read 12.6 volts with all power turned off and engine NOT running. Check each battery. Check your automobile 1st to see how it performs...

    M1078 Alternator Problem

Just so you know. We have gone through the expense and engineering to get 2 patents on our Alternators. You can look them up to see why our units are more reliable than the other brands. Patents 9793779 and 7291933. We only sell new, no used alternator parts. Go to the classifieds for our...

Starter and Alternator problems two questions

Trying to help someone with their electrical problems may also include some extended education. A wiring diagram is a must if one is to dig into electrical trouble. I looked up a diagram of another MV and saw that it has a glow plug circuit board and relay. Easy test for glow plugs is to check...

Starter and Alternator problems two questions

Higher voltage, is always better, than higher needed amperage to spin a motor/starter. Look at some common uses. In your house they use 115 volt to turn on lights. They use 230 volts to turn on your ac compressor, your hot water heater, your stove, your dryer, all being electric. Some reasons...

Starter and Alternator problems two questions

I somewhat agree that a lower voltage connection should not cause sparks. I believe it was a reverse of ground and battery. A volt meter at the starter terminal post will tell a lot. A fully charged and good condition, 24 volt lead acid battery/s should read 25.2 volts with no load. With the...

    M1078 Alternator Problem

The LMTV is only a 24/28 volt alternator with 100 amps. It uses S.C.R. (diodes) to convert 28 volts to 14 volts. You only have one 28 volt gauge-correct? The regulator has to control both the 28 volts normal and then 14 volts in the background. It is a inverter/converter. Big problem, when you...
