It can be done, it just takes a little work. I had a local glass shop cut a piece of glass and glue it in place. Endless Adventures had great DIY YouTube

Oh man…this makes perfect sense! Two days ago I capped off the front glad hands, just because I never dreamed of needing them. I will definitely try this first, thank you.
I did a thing tonight and I’m not sure if what I did was bad or did something mess up. After working on my M1078 A0 changing the passenger mirror, I released the parking brake and let the truck roll back against a wheel chalk about ten feet away, my driveway is relatively flat but I didn’t want...
Make sure to pack the bearings good on the "dry" side of the hub, other wise the inside bearings and the outside bearings will be wet from the gear oil.
I took my brake shoes off, maybe they are in the way and stiff springs are making it difficult to remove the hub. Hey, if what you did works, then run with it.

I agree, if you can find a private sale that would be the best bet. Something is going on with these auction sites and they are taking the fun out of bidding for something that is a want and not a need.
I use mine to launch my boat on the sandy beaches where we live. Just the cost of a blown up transmission in a regular pickup truck is equal to my m1078. Plus it has made me some money pulling people out of the soft sand in there 4x4's.
