A while ago (longer than I realize) I purchased the replacement gauges for the MEP003 that were popular on this site. I got busy with other tasks, set them aside, and now a couple of years have passed. I have misplaced the directions for hooking them up.
Does anyone one have them, or a link...
I bolted each battery box down to the skid/frame rails that the original battery case was bolted to.
Then I lined the bottom of each with a battery-acid mat. The straps that are buckled on the top of each case only functions to hold the top covers in-place.
I have thought about a battery...
I spent the weekend reworking my battery area on my MEP-003a. Feel free to critique and let me know what you think.
I thought it turned out pretty good. All battery cables are 2/0, rubberized covers on all battery terminals and on the starter and ground lugs.
I figured that by buying my MEP003a, I virtually guaranteed that my power would never ever go out again.....so I would never get the chance to use it.....also figured if I ever sold it that the power would go off the very next day.
I have been having an occasional issue on my MEP003a.
Several times I have attempted to start the engine to find it would not start. Each time I have thought to myself "it seems like it is not getting fuel" and each time found the joint on the governor arm, where it slips over the ball on the...
Check the -12 tech manual, section 4-27 for how to troubleshoot the battery charging system. It is pretty easy using a basic voltmeter.
There is an alternator under the flywheel that produces AC, then is fed through a voltage regulator/rectifier combo. All parts located under the cowling...
i re-read and he did say idle.....I read it as idling. I guess reading really is fundamental.
If that is the case, use a test light or ammeter/voltmeter and start narrowing things down. Check to see if the batteries are charging while it is running.....if the charging voltage...
The fuel pumps are powered from the batteries. If the charging system is not working, then the batteries will drain just with the engine running.
There is a fuse in the cowling near the IP...start there. All the battery charging components are under the cowling near the flywheel and are...
How common is the heavy spring kit found on the m116a2 trailers?
I recently purchased one with a MEP-003a on it. I knew it was an -a2 trailer but when i was taking a closer look yesterday I saw that the id-plate said it had the heavy spring kit.
I plan to take the genny off and use the...
From one of the Q&A on their website:
In 2000, the EPA adopted a Californian law that set special requirements to make gas cans "safer" and applied it federally. Once this came into place, it became illegal to sell a canister to store fuel that did not have: -A single, self venting opening...
