Reviving the 83 ford with LDS 5 ton drive line

I would give DACCO a call on the filter kits for the trans. They help me find the weirdest stuff for the things we work on all the time.

    Detroit Diesel Differences?

No they love boost tell it go es a tad to lean or gets a bit hot. One of two thongs will happen, if it pings just once 95% chance that it'll toss a corner or apex seal, and if they overheat they eat coolant seals which is just a piece of rubber ring basically. I love the cars to death as the...

    Detroit Diesel Differences?

No valves at all and a very cool noise. That and they last forever if they are not turbo charged. I've owned just a couple of them little buggers.

    towing/recovery charges

Ok maybe I should make myself clear im notbtalking about pulling someone out of a ditch. I was talking about driving out into the woods and pulling a lifted chevy that is trailered in out of a hole

    towing/recovery charges

Ok a bunch of people around here like to go wheeling, and like most they get stuck. I have been kind enough to always help my friends out but now the friend of a friend calls have started and it isn't worth my time to do it for free. So I got an idea in my head to start charging for the service...

Id lower the compression these run at 22:1 where the 5.9 is like 17:1 if I remember right.

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

It is kind of odd to have this feature on a di diesel. Most piston with the bathtub design are used in idi engines where lower pop pressures and higher crs are needed to make everything go bang. Thid leads me to belive that the ldt and lds motors have lower injection pressures so not to sure...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

Wait I thougt the ldt and lds motors were direct injection not pre chambered

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

Yes the static compression is the same but the dynamic could be vastly different Dynamic CR Sorry I am posting from my phone or I would copy and paste the excerpts

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

another thing to look at is the dynamic compression ratio. Even if both motors are the same and cam timing or lobes are slightly different this can change the actual compression quite a bit. I had an old IDI f250 and one of the best things to do was to put in a slightly different cam the...

    Can a m109 pull a bobbed Deuce

Well how far is too far flat towing. We were wanting to go from here to points west, such as vegas the moab, and some state parks that allow full size truck wheeling

    Can a m109 pull a bobbed Deuce

OK just kinda thinking out loud here for a future project. I am looking to build a m109 into a camper for little expeditions out west but I dont wanna take it on the trails as it is my transport to points unknown. So my question is, if I were to build a bobbed deuce as a toy and pick up a big...

Deuce + Shelter = Camper RV

I know this thread is kind of old but it really catches my interest as I used to be in the RV industry. You may have already covered this but for all of your heating and cooling needs I would go with a propane setup, a lot cheaper in the long run than a gen setup and batteries and fairly cheap...
