Sorry guys , I haven't been on this site in over a year. Sold my M-1008 Chevy and regret it today. I'm looking for a reasonably priced Mep-002A or Mep-802 genny. Prefer it to have sound enclosure. Used to be they could be had for 5-6 hundred. I guess I'm a little out of touch. Who handles...
I need to know if someone out there has any idea if the hotshift PTO and hydraulic pump can used as a full time hydraulic power source for a municipal plow truck. The PTO needs to run at all times to run plow , spreader, and dump body. I know the 2 section pump is 9 GPM per section at 1000...
I'm going to purchase another genny.. The OLD Homelite is getting cantankerous to start out in the cold.. 10 horse 5K with wind-up start.. My buddy has a Mep 2A and loves it.. Another has a Mep 3 and it's for sale.. But I'm looking to a 5 K Mep 2A or the newer Mep 802A for fuel savings.. Does...
I've found that belt life under the hood of a CUCV are short as best.. Does anyone know of 1/2" belts and pulleys for this application ?? These 7/16 belts just are not cuttin' it.. I have cleaned pulleys and tried different brand of belts.. They just don't last.. I've had the truck [M1031] for 4...
I did it on my M 1031 after smoking up the Delco starter.. I went running for a 1/2" wrench to disconnect the battery cables .. After finding out the nuts were 9/16" , My starter was already roached.. Now I have disconnect switches on both batteries.. Did the relay swap and has worked great ever...
I'm kind of surprised that GM and/or the US Government didn't make the fan belt situation a little bit more beefy.. My M-1028 ILNG9N wears out belts too darned soon. I originally had a rust problem on the pulleys from years of sitting [ as it had 900 miles on it when purchased from Ft Mead]...
Happened to my M-1028.. Changed the fuel pump..No change.. Took off the fuel filter housing and looked at the back ...Slight wetness there.. Changed it out for a spin on filter and housing.. NAPA 3132 filter and aluminum spin-on base...Has worked excellent since.. I did drill and tap a plug hole...
How about the speedometer cable needing a little lube.. Is the needle steady or zig-zagging back and forth ?? Disconnect it from the speedo and pull the cable out of the outer sheath and white grease it .. Slip it back in and try it..
Fuel filter base is leaking ever so slightly...Just enough for air to get into the filter assembly..I got rid of that filter and base and installed a spin on filter and base..NAPA number 3132 filter [ I think]...Have not had any problems since.. Someone asked if the heater is necessary...It's...
This makes me wonder .... Why did GM use such thin crappy belts on a ton and a quarter pick-up truck {M1028A1}.. I've installed 3 sets of alternator belts in under 12,000 miles..I sanded the pulleys so there is no rust tearing up the belts..The drivers side alternator seems to stretch the...
Find a local starter/alternator rebuilder..They can rebuild/repair your old units..They're 12 volt units with external grounds..I had both or mine gone thru with new bearings for about 60 bucks apiece.. I use Buckeye Auto Electric in Painesville , Ohio
