I looked into installing one of the Fuller 6 speeds, but the ratios weren't any better than the auto (the jump between the top gears was even worse).
Somebody is always the "trail-blazer", does all the research, makes the costly mistakes, etc, resulting in an easier project for the rest of us...

Its great to see someone actually doing this swap! I never took it any farther than crawling under various semi trucks with a tape measure. I have a feeling that w/o moving the transfer case, your front prop shaft will clear (until the axle up front articulates)
One idea I had...
There's a good chance your tires are not only out of balance, but out of round as well. The fix there is to remove the high spots by shaving down the tires.
I've posted photos of the process here before, I'll try to find them.
A diesel relies on heat, created during the compression stroke, to ignite the fuel/air mixture injected into the cylinder. In extreme cold temps, there is less heat to begin with in the engine, AND the engine will likely be cranking slower, resulting in less heat being generated during...
Has anyone tried to force a lock-up in 1st gear by powering the soleniod? I'm looking to maximize engine braking.
I have a steep hill to travel down any time I take the truck out. The ideal speed is right around where the converter unlocks in 2nd as engine speed drops, resulting in loss of...
Whats you trans temp running? Temps should run fairly close together, once everything is warmed up due to the heat exchanger in the coolant loop.
Where in western pa are you? I'm in Washington, and keep a truck or 2 at my shop in Carnegie.

What size tires are you trying to put on your c-60? Just curious, as I recently put new goodyears on my 89 and they werent too bad. 19.5 rims?
You could always swap axles / hub parts from a C-70 and run 22.5's.
You may have the wrong temp sender installed in the transmission. One of my trucks did the same thing. Gage hit 275, and I freaked out, pulled over, tested with an IR and it was less than 160.
If you don't have a way to test temperature, but you can safely touch the transmission sump for a few...

I injected the Counteract beads through the valve stem w/o splitting the wheel. A few of my wheels need new o-rings installed and I figured I may have to use the loader bucket to get the ring free from the tire.
Not sure about the beads and the CTIS yet. I have a feeling that at some point a few will get stuck in a wheel valve, prevent it from seating, and deflate a tire. I'm going to try something bigger on the other truck - maybe golf balls.

I'll be replacing the same bushing on my transfer case. If you had to do it again, would you repair it in the truck, or remove the case and do it on a bench. I had not considered leaving the case installed until
I read your post. Thanks.
I had the same issue with both of my trucks. My tires were out of round, and out of ballance. Weight will help a bit, but not correct the situation. In my case I had the tires shaved down (loosing a bit of tread) to get them true. I also added ballance beads to the tires.
How about pressurizing the VENT port of the shutter-stat with air when you want the fan to be forced ON,using an axle engagement switch. In the OFF (auto) position, the shutter-stat switch vents through the axle engagement switch, and cycles the fan as needed.
