If I remember right, the Coker DUKW tires are recommended with tubes, but the tire shop couldn't make that work, so we went tubeless and without flaps. It has worked OK, but again, they have had minimal use in the 4-5 years they have been on. The valve stems stick out real far, almost like it...
I got a set of the DUKWs a few years ago. They've done fine as far as I know, but then again, the Cokers are the only tires I've ever driven it with, so I don't have much to cross reference, and I haven't put many miles on them. I have a vague recollection of having to experiment with...
Here is one with another (and better) Grumman product. From my long-lost youth: While with The World Famous Sunday Punchers of VA-75 onboard the JFK, we were doing a low level over Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield, and caught up with a section of F-14s from VF-32. World-renowned aerial...
Agree-I don't really have any other point of reference since I put these on as soon as I got it, as part of a larger restoration. I did have to fiddle around with the PSI a little.
I was in the same boat a couple of years ago, and ended up biting the bullet and getting new DUKW tires from Coker in Chattanooga TN. There were a few threads on the topic at the time, but I think a lot of that information had a finite shelf life.
Similar problem happened to me today with a slightly different twist. Got a 998 from the auction lot a couple of weeks ago, and it has started normally several times since then- the yellow wait light comes on for a few seconds with the lever in 'run', then it starts immediately after the light...
Hope you aren't in a big hurry. I'm in the same boat, but about 3 weeks ahead of you (past the '8-12 weeks' advertised delay for the EUC). Got a page-long form letter from GP in response to my query that says basically 'it's in the hands of the guvment now, so sorry'.
Didn't take this long to...
Had the same symptoms after rescuing one that had not run for a few years, and did the same treatment (filters+ additives) which helped a good bit. In dealing with other farm equipment, I have seen that it may take an extra cycle or two with filters to really clear out the water. I have also...
Thanks- yeah judging by the pictures combat32 sent of a stock set up, it looks like my cold start system has had some 'field mods' applied. Getting a quart or so of water out of the fuel filters has already helped some. God love those old diesel engines.
My Goat was originally surplused to a municipality that used it for beach trash pick up. I'm trying to make sure that there were no workarounds done that are going to cause me problems in the end. I know the bilge pump is gone, but I'm not brave enough to try to swim at this point anyway.
The...
