As mentioned, im still trying to find the wording however, "technically" i understand that i am not exempt, but it was implied that they simply dont force compliance on someone at my level. Since we are just passing the first set of deadlines though it does concern me that they might "revamp" or...
To readdress one of the original issues. I understand technically the law says unless historic, something like a 923(not capable of being an RV in its normal state), would have to have its engine replaced. Has anyone actually gone about doing this? Has anyone been required to do this? I heard...
Well sir, right you are. Those military guys said its not an issue for me. I guess the rules are a bit misleading and its only when youre using the truck for commercial usage or when you own 3 or more vehicles. I'm still trying to find the exact word of this in the rules but having troub.le.
I think at this point its pretty clear to me that im just screwed if i want a 5ton, due to my requirements. Since I'm not fond of the historic idea due to my interest in using it daily and heavy modification. Its looking like Ill just need to engine swap. On the bright side, i bet i could get...
Oh, wow, woops. I saw Southwest and thought that included CA. Might help if i was in the proper CA region. Let me figure out how to move it.
I think I need an admin please....
To further that engine problem, so far as I can tell its not a registration issue but a driving issue. So even if I was to register in another state close by that doesnt care about the engine, i still cant legally drive it in the state of CA.
Also regarding the historic plate suggestions.

It is indicating that the vehicle has to be at least 25 years old but the kicker is "limited to operation or movement over the highway primarily...
I too wonder where that came from, i read it completely the opposite. Smog laws for under 14k are pretty lenient in comparison.
This is the carb pdf I was reading http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onrdiesel/documents/FSRegSum.pdf
Depending if you count the GVWR as 22k which is the weight of the...
You can definitely do that with the shop or van trucks. There are certain requirements though, such as having a box type body on the back, and you must have certain things like a toilet, stove, bed, etc. I thought about it a while back when I was considering a van body but ultimately im going to...
I plan to get a CDL class A anyway. I plan to use it for pulling a camping trailer and off-roading. I also plan to modify it heavily which I would assume would make me ineligible for historic license. I'm guessing a quad cab on it and matte black isn't historic. Don't know about year yet, 923a1...
Humm. I had assumed no diesel issues due to diesel laws really only starting as of 97 but good point. I heard there was some retroactive rules so I should check.
I'm looking into the practicality of a 923a2 in socal.
Ive looked around and so far as I can tell there is no real reason that it should be an issue, i understand the insurance, registration, storage, driver license, overall cost.
I checked the roads for weight limits, turns out there are a...
