I took apart the drag link on my M51 dump truck and discovered that one end is missing some of the internal parts. Anyone have an idea where I might find a drag link rebuild kit. I've searched around on the internet but have been unable to find anything other than buying a used drag link to...
Can anyone tell me how many turns lock to lock a M51A2 should have? I have looked at the maintenance manual and operators manual and don't see this information spelled out anywhere.
I am having a steering problem with my M51A2. Here is what I have discovered so far. With the front wheels off the ground and the engine not running, I am able to turn the steering wheel to the left just over 1 3/4 turns at which time the left wheel hits its mechanical stop. I can only turn the...
Unfortunately, I have not had the time to work on this problem with my truck and it has been sitting for over a year without being driven. It got to the point the last time I drove it that I could hardly turn right at all. I had taken it somewhere and had to plan a route home using all left...
That's interesting information. The generator I was working on (donated to the fire department from the DNR) didn't work that way. The fuel pumps always ran and appear to provide pressurized fuel to the injector pump. I'm betting some mechanic changed something in the fuel system over the years...

Parts On Order
Thanks for the reply Topo. I called up Memphis Equipment and have the parts coming. They also had a rebuild kit for the control cylinder on the steering box.
Still Hoping For An Answer
I'm still hoping someone can give me an answer to this. I've seen rebuilt steering boxes for sale on Ebay but not the kits to do it.
Has anyone here converted a M51 series truck from the old style power steering that it originally came with to the newer M800 series power steering box? How difficult of a job is it?
Does anyone know if there is a rebuild kit available for the Ross steering gear in my M51? I'm having some problems with it and think I may need a rebuild. If it is not available where should I look for a new steering unit?
