Installed the gear reduction starter with my Dad. That was challenging. 68lb starter in an awkward position isnt fun. One bolt is a 5/8" 12 point. The others are 15/16". You will need some extensions for the one inside the starter next to the block. The star shaped bolt head needs a box...
Installed a new thermostat gasket and seal since the housing was leaking. I also replaced the coolant temp gauge. Driving home it failed. Gauge face broke off trying to take out old gauge. New one working like a charm. Matches other gauges.
I know the white gauges aren't period correct but...
Took Brutus on vacation to Gettysburg. Did 400+ miles towing the m1061a1. Truck did fantastic. Maintained speed well, only dropped back to 47 or 48 mph on some grades. Highest fuel pressure was 150 to 160. Highest egts was 850F. Highest boost was 7.5lbs. All on stock #27 fuel button...
Took the m1061a1 on vacation to Gettysburg. Trailer did great. No issues. Shelter and cables stayed tight. Plan is to get new rubber shoes for the trailer as these are quite old.
I got it to 150 psi with foot all the way in it. Larger 10% injectors should drop the pressure at little but and a larger button Will still keep it in a safe spot.
Took the m1061a1 trailer out. First tow since the turbo build. Truck pulled well. 800 egts on hills max. No temp and fuel pressure issues. Boost saw max of 7lbs on #27 fuel button. Still planning on the 10% over injectors and might do a 25 or 22 fuel button. It holds speed on hills but...
No duals on the front of the 5 ton. 395s all around. We had a ramp to load the tractor off the back of a little hill. Used some steel and old m35a2c drop sides that were bad.
Thank you!
Got the shelter painted with 2 coats of lusterless marine corps forest green. New reflectors. Trailer and shelter are refreshed. Going to take it for a test drive with the truck to make sure theres no issues before vacation.
Picked up a #25 and #22 fuel button. Going to swap in the #25 and might do the #22 depending how fuel pressure is. I wouldn't mind a little more power. I also want it so anyone can get in it and drive it without worrying about temps, fuel pressure, etc.
I picked up a new engine filter and...
Started sanding the shelter for paint. Cut 2-2x4s and used the pre-existing holes along each side of the shelter. 5-1/2" holes.
Used stainless steel hardware. Primed and painted the 2x4s.
Now shelter is supported so it can't shift left or right.
I got the eyelifts bolted down and got some 5ft long 3/8" steel cables to some 1/2"- 6 inch long turn buckles. All 4 tightened down. I'm going to add some pressure treated 2x4s and have them bolted down on either side to keep any side to side shifting from happening. Next is to start the...
Got the sound bar mounted up. Used 2 deck screws with washers on each side through the fiberglass reinforcements. Painted the 2x6 marine corps forest green this morning. Mounted sound bar. The power cable doesn't allow me to have it face directly out where the brackets are so its facing...
Mounting up a sound bar. Didn't want to drill holes through the fiberglass hardtop. Decided to use a 2x6 wood board. It fits snuggly between the fiberglass reinforcements on back of cab. Used gorilla max constructive adhesive. The board had to be hammered into position. Plan is to drill 2...
I was trying to figure out a way to secure the shelter and decided to use some eyelift points with steel cables.
I centered the shelter on the trailer and then drilled a 3/4" hole for the eyelift. Centered it on both sides. I'm going to use 1/2 turn buckles. It will require 5ft-3/8"...
I bought a s-250g to fit on the m1061a1. I wanted the larger version of the shelter for camping. Came with a fridge, electric and ac. Shelter is in fantastic shape. I decided to mount the shelter approx 2ft back from the front edge of the deck. I wanted some extra storage space for...
