Not concerned right now about which wtec is installed but thanks. Just bringing up that two resources of info on the Circuit Breakers etc. are different and wondered which was correct. Wtec and relations to fuses being a way to figure out which Wtec is installed was just a something saw...
Number scheme is a bad description sorry.
the one found in PDF link in here http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?155757-FMTV-Power-Distribution-Panel-PDP-info
and the one found in an article here https://www.logsa.army.mil/pub/psissues/PS%20561.pdf *
Are different. Numbers...
reinserting information but don't know how accurate it is.
CB70 "circuit breaker 70" (according to one chart in TM's) would cover all your issues.
Butt.. see http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?158246-Two-different-Circuit-Breaker-number-schemes that discusses that this is one CB...
On the Circuit Breakers..... "black button". Is that a disconnect orr? like do you push once to connect and push again to disconnect? Is there any indicator when it is tripped beside something not working? Talked to the fellow today and he mentioned pushing button on a circuit breaker that...
Sounds like your saying the Isolator would just stop things on the side it was backward (be it the 12 or 24v side) leaving the one that is correct still working? Thus in some respects may not be quickly noticeable.
Jump was tried earlier. Am diagnosing "after effects". Not got whole story...
Old guys who are pretty confident at mechanicals........get older. Confidence stays...... yet age starts sneaking in bad decisions anyway. So it is bound to happen to hook up 24v any which way like farmers use too (polarity correct) .
Lot of older folk like MV's! Looking at one to help fix and...
Bryce says these are "Soft" style which makes since. From reading up on them all Detroit Lockers of this style are now manufactured as soft type. (less noisy, not as clunky/harsh as in the past). Supposedly the also will fit into the first rear axle of a 6x6. Most suggest in an AWD to NEVER...
My apologies been searching but not found yet....... so going to ask here in this old thread.
.What is best way to jump start without a NATO jump plug. Say with a 12v jump box and an Auto. Would want myself and everyone to hook things up right so not to put 24v thru 12v side.
. For idiots...
Spread sheet is a great help.
Some PDF readers have a searchable feature that is compatible with the PDF files. Not sure how/why it worked out as it did but when opened mine after downloading with my Linux PDF reader it automatically created search feature AND, go to page links on all the...
when towing an FMTV there is glad hands for towing brakes. Agree on appropriately sized Safety chain(s)/strap(s) . Not sure if the Ibis came with them but most assuredly if not; should be added.
So that solved main question is where is the weaknesses and could they be reinforced.
Question is could a competent welder reinforce the Ibis bar to avoid the failures. If so....... what areas need reinforcement? Maybe add a safety chain so if it came apart all it could do is run into your own Arse?
Another bushing thread (tie rod bushings) got me thinking about this one. Wonder if Energy Suspensions makes a universal one big enough?
