Overhad lights and CB question for M1009

Anywhere you find voltage in the fuse box is okay. Pretty much the supply side is the same no matter which circuit you pick, except I think there's some 24vdc in there.

Overhad lights and CB question for M1009

I would have run to the battery ground bus bar on the firewall under the hood or, the one in the back.

Overhad lights and CB question for M1009

Looks pretty good. Two things. First, the radio is a long way from the operator. I used to run my CB, a really big Ranger 2950 (okay "modified" 10m ham radio), under the AM/FM pod. I used existing holes. It really didn't interfere with my feet at all. You have created a new ground by...

That's what I needed to know! Thanks!

    Gen 2 light?

I might have to rebuild an alternator soon. I read a tutorial online about how to do a Delco alternator. It didn't look like rocket science. What has stopped me is finding a source for parts and I'm not sure if the parts in the alternator are special. Most of the sites I've seen for parts...

So how bad did those slow it down?

    Should I buy this M1009 for $2000?

Nothing says "Monkey Business" like wire nuts... The price is reasonable for a driver. The body is nice than mine and I paid $2500 for mine in 2001.

CUCV vs excursion, F350, or other pick up for bug out and snow vehicle.

Some notes on EMP..... EMP mostly kills things that are "Solid State". This means, Integrated Circuits (IC's), and transistors. It does not kill the old fashioned coil-and-contacts-moving-parts-relays. It does not harm vacuum tubes. It does not kill solenoids (unless there's some solid...

    swollen glow plug tool

I've been getting OTC tools from Automotive Tools, Air Tools, Robinair A/C Equipment at ToolTopia.com . Decently priced too.

    Pintle Hitch Removal

I used a big stupid adjustable wrench on the nut. I slid a pipe through the eye of pintle, wedged it into the ground and then went work, only after soaking the nut with liquid wrench. I swapped my swivel pintle out for a fixed one with a ball. I wanted to be able to tow a mil trailer, but my...

    Overhead console

I had the Pace Edwards in my 86 Silverado K-5. I liked it quite a bit. I had a couple of radio control heads stuffed into it. It was also a good place to stash clipboards, etc.

    M1009 Stereo Install

As previous posters have indicated, buy a voltmeter. If you have any money left over, get a test light too. The test light is easier to use when looking for a ignition circuit. If you penetrate the firewall, use a grommet. Doing two-way radios for 15 years, I would not advise going under...

If you had $1000... Prioritizing upgrades and repairs.

Air Conditioning! (I live in Miami) I have the Optimas in mine, I'm not sure I really like them. If the battery ever dies, you'll have the devil of a time recharging them, as I am having now. You pretty much have to charge them at 50 amps for a half hour and then 10 amps for eight hours. On...

Belt whine... how do I tighten them?

There's a neat and cheap little tool from Thexton that allows you to easily tighten the power steering belt with a 1/2 breaker bar or ratchet. Prying on the unit itself can easily lead to damage. You're looking for a Thexton 383 tool. It's a flat plate with a hook on one end and a 1/2 square...
