    Widow maker rims

The old traditional "Split Rim", as I know them, actually had a rim that split in the center. As on a regular 16" drop center rim, picture the split where the drop center is. They at least came on the early '50s chevys that came with dual wheels & 750x20" tires. There was no ring...

    Odd M1028 bed

So what's he doing for a clutch pedal ? Does that look very original? I agree, its a neat truck, & a drop-side, to boot.

M105A2 little nub in gate and front of tub

To help support the head & tail boards from blowing out if the load shifts.

Fan clutch low psi, not disengaging

There are several answers, not to mention download the manual & read. Next is take it to a commercial truck shop. OTH trucks use one of several methods to control the fans/shutters. The military didn't invent something new here & probably most of the parts are some version of the civi parts...

    South Wind heater

I regularly used mine. I worked as it should. They both worked well, as it was outfitted with one for the driver as well.

Reusable hydraulic fittings - worth the extra cost?

When your building something, especially in a field application, re-useable is best because it can be cut to length, & most of us that do that stuff have accumulated a stock of spares. Some fittings & hose, because of its size & the fittings, just warrants a trip to town. Its good though to...

    fifth wheel

The grooves in the face of the plate are, no doubt filled with dried grease & need to be cleaned. You will find zerk fittings under the plate too. That plate will tip horizontally, as well as fore & aft, for off road use. All mounting holes shall have bolts in them, of the proper size &...

Couple of questions on PTO's and Winch Leaks

Make sure that you can find all the gears on the winch, & the neutral. Its possible to install the output shaft backwards, which was why I re-did mine. If its backwards, as I remember, high gear in return, will be missing & neutral will work, but will be slightly out of place. A little extra...

    M105 Trailer Question

You can't hurt that trailer with the load that your suggesting, even if you took it on the road. But better have it behind a Deuce!

    M116A? trailer rim question

Looks like someone fabricated that wheel. What size tire is it on there? Jack it up & spin the wheel. Does it run true? Looks like its been balanced. Many have shied away from the original wheel & tires because fewer & fewer shops will work on them. If tires are available -- run them...

    Full on airbrakes?

Welcome aboard. Anything is possible, if your set on air brakes. But keep in mind that in the old days, all brakes were "less then stellar". Maybe your starting with the wrong truck? At the same time, I was recently pulling my M989, 11 ton cargo trailer, as I regularly do with my M35, in...

    m101a1 Leaf Spring

Which leaf is it? If its not the top one, it should be easier to find, and a longer one can be shortened to fit. Also the hole for the spring center bolt is sometime not centered between the eyes. If your replacing a leaf, get a new spring center bolt too.

11.00x20 G177 Tires and wheels Value?

You might try spreading the word around with the local civilian short haul dump/gravel truck market. I sold some that way once.

    Aux tanks under 50 gallons

55 gallon drums that stand upright, where water can accumulate due to the lip around the top, are notorious for leaking water into the contents, regardless of how its supposedly sealed. It has to do with heating up during the day, creating pressure, then cooling at night and a vacuum. Drums...
