Driving home from work when an igit light came on.
Stopped to check it out and found that all of the left front blinker fluid leaked out and made a big mess.
It was a little dark and in need of a flush and replacement anyway.
I caught another pack rat that was making a nest on my air filter cover.
Now I have to find where he got that wire from and what other damage he did.
Looks like one I had repaired previously due to the last rat. He also had a zip-tie in that nest.
Did resistor bypass on second truck. And replaced glow-plug relay, it definitely needed it, went to move it to my garage to do the work and it would sit there with the wait light on for about 30 sec, then would not start. New relay solved that problem.
Finished tracking down and repairing...
I caught the rat in the truck that I haven't yet done the bypass on. I'll be doing that one soon. You can see the chewed windshield washer tubing in the pic. He got to the left front running light wires on this truck, easy fix last night. On the other truck he also chewed up the washer...
Last night I finished the resistor bypass, replaced the glow plug relay with a NAPA ST85, installed new AC 60G glow plugs and spade connectors, on one truck that was having starting problems. This morning with it cold, it started right up, yea! I learned all of these things from this site...
Not OEM, or even a real grommet, but I used rubber furniture leg tips purchased at Home Depot for about $1.50 each.
The ones I used have a little bit of a lip on them so they fit in the hole perfectly without pushing through. I think they are the 19mm size, but I dont remember for sure...
It worked!!!
One of my trucks quit on me six months ago...after I noticed it getting a bit harder to start when cold, it completely gave up. Fortunately it happened at home. I haven't had the time to deal with it, and I have the second truck for transportation, so there it has sat...
The day I picked-up my second one and drove it home I got it up to 93 on GPS, on a straight and level stretch of I-40. I had one wheel a bit out of balance, but it was still accelerating when I had to let off.
Still can't believe how fast this old truck is. Went Topless today, what fun!:D
One truck it registers as full when full, on empty it has about 5 gallon reserve.
the other reads F + 1/4 when full, had a couple gallons still the one time I got it down to E.
I developed this problem after having electrical issues that turned out to be just two shot batteries. Replaced the batteries and my horn was stuck on. Pulled the fuse to quiet it. That was last year. Finally got around to researching it today and found this thread....Thanks!
The best I...
I got out today and did about 75 miles of trail riding today with my son. These two pics were both today. First is near Table Mesa Road off I-17 north of Phoenix. The second is about a 50 miles away near Crown King, AZ. I meant to just pull to the side of the road to get the photo but it...
I was watching that one--looks like a nice truck--but didn't bid as I am still in the doghouse for my last M1009, which also came from Nellis AFB, but originally was from Ft Hunter-Liggett, CA. After a new water pump, front breaks and some other minor fixes and fluid replacements, I drove it...
My latest one, which I got from Nellis AFB, came from the Army Reserve at Ft. Hunter-Liggett, CA, as it had a recruiting sticker saying so on the back window. I also found oak leaves in it, which are all over Hunter-Liggett.
