I got a foot-long piece of matching thread pipe, and added a tractor exhaust cover. It sits flat on the end of the pipe, and when the gen starts the exhaust pressure opens it....easy peasy! Jim

I normally run the MEP803 once a month for an hour. Am I wasting fuel?....is 30 minutes a month long enough? The remote start switch handles start-up and shut-down from the panel in the basement. I run the house, which is minimal, and 4 x 1500 watt milk house heaters to provide load...

I agree...I wasn't clear in the initial post. "There is a remote manual switch for the gen near the breaker box." I'll use the correct terminology next time. We're all still learning. :) Thanks to both of you! Jim

We had a thundershower this morning around 5AM. Lightning, but nothing within several miles based on the 'one-onethousand' methodology. After one bolt of lightning the MEP803a started up, ran for about 5 seconds, then shut down. Ever heard of such a thing? Obviously the timing of the two...
