My M1009 has died new curve ball thrown Updated

Unless I'm trying to seal a hard corner I never use RTV anymore.. Its such a mess to clean up and there are a ton of better products out there for coating paper gaskets. For the paper gasket you can use something like Permatex "super 300" or "High tack"

    CUCV Vacuum Modulator setting block

This isn't anything fancy, but I made a block to set the vacuum modulator on the 6.2. I think someone mentioned they are $150 for the steel one, but quick and easy to print out. Link to thread where I got the idea...

    Starter blowing fuses.

I didn't see a reply to this, but I made this mistake at least twice... Its the craziest thing, but if you unhook the ground on the first battery, the second battery will the 12 volt wire as the "ground" to complete the circuit. To isolate these you need to unhook the ground and 24v power, or...

M1008 quick starting causes starter to grind - is this normal?

Okay so clearly I didn't explain my thoughts. I don't think its the battery terminals, the relays or the glow plugs grinding, that was just back information. I think changing the terminals helped with a connection problem. However, I believe the different glow plugs AND larger wire is causing...

M1008 quick starting causes starter to grind - is this normal?

So mine just started this today too. A little backstory; I had to replace the solenoid because it was hanging when cold. After I replace it, it was all good and started normal. I then decided to change out my battery terminals, now it starts crazy fast and has a slight grind. I already have the...

    Replacement Alternators

Did you test yours? They are really easy to take apart and test if you haven't done so yet. Mine had a bad diode trio and I was able to find it at a local alternator store in OKC. If you know what part you need, I bet one of us can find one for you.

Behr Paint Jobs- Show me your MV's

You can go to HD or Lowes and they can look up the federal standard (listed as FSS sometimes) paint codes and mix it in any brand paint you want. I've never seen 24087, there's a 24097, but it might be out there. Here is a list of codes and colors...

Behr Paint Jobs- Show me your MV's

You are correct there are instructions, and I followed them, up to 32 oz per gallon of paint with airless sprayers. My HVLP gun needs thinner paint than my airless sprayers, so I worked up to the max ratio. With the HVLP gun and high air temps I was spraying in this seemed to work good, but if...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I solved the death wobble problem in my M1008!! I replaced the kingpin bushings and springs today, what a difference it makes! The old springs were about 1/4" to 3/8" shorter than the new and the bushing on the driver side was broken into two pieces. Well worth the $45 to fix. I also ordered a...

They seem to be a little stiff.. I'm hoping they will be a little more flexible.

Grooving and Siping I started grooving and siping my BFG Baja tires. I only finished one so far, it is taking a little more time than I thought.
