    starter issue

Ok, so I replaced the starter w/ a 12 volt and rerouted the power cable to the first battery. All is working well and I'm happy with the conversion. I had an issue before the installation that I never really worked out. I know it's a longshot because you don't know what's been done to this...

    starter issue

I am sure I replaced the right relay, just a 4 prong silver box, I used the AC40 I think, which was a ford blower relay. I'm going to buy a starter at the parts store and re-route the cable still using 24 volts. I'll let ya know how it goes Thx

    starter issue

Ok, here is the newest issue with my 1028. The truck has run well for three months then this: The starter keeps starting after the key is released. I have searched the forum and replace the relay under the dash but this did nothing. I even pulled the relay out while it was cranking and the...

    1008 1028 ID

so the 1028s have heavier springs? I thought they just used an overload spring setup. Do they actually use heavier springs or just more springs than a 1008?

    1008 1028 ID

just wondering if there is any way to tell the difference between 1008 and 1028s without checking id plates just by looking at them from the outside. Assuming they both have a regular pickup bed on them. the overload springs are a clue but kind of hard to see from afar. Do the D60 axles look...

    My 1028 hauling a load

So I guess 4000lbs sounds about right. That does exceed the 3600lb weight specified in the placard but I have always been under the impression that trucks can carry more than placarded data and only list a certain payload capability in order to guarantee safe/reliable operation of the vehicle...

    My 1028 hauling a load

Here's a pic of my 1028 hauling sand last week. The bed was completely full at all corners and filled slightly higher than the top of the bed. It was two shovel fulls from a large front end loader. I dont know what it weighed but the truck handled it fine. Any guestimates as to the weight of...

M1028 tranny shifting vaccuum pump question.

Hey All, My 1028 seems to enjoy shifting gears only at near redline rpm, I gathered through other posts that this may be due to insufficient vacuum either from leaks or a failing pump. I'm going to check the lines, but in the event the lines are fine, I'll have to assume the pump is bad. So I...

    M1028 fire fighting truck

I've got a M1028 firefighting placard on my truck and haven't been able to find an history or specs on it. Is it just a regular 1028 or is there something that makes it a fire fighting truck? In the specs resource here it says 1028's have lockers in the front and rear but a few other resources...

    Help with greens (cucv)

Thanks for the info. I'd like to know what the tan paint is called that was used on the cucvs in the desert, and would it be available at rapcoparts also? If not, is there something at the local paint store that's close in color? Haven't decided if I like the green or tan better. Thanks

    Help with greens (cucv)

Hey all, I'm new here and have a paint question: I have an 87 m1028 cucv painted in the three color camo and I want to paint it all green or possibly desert tan. I've researched all the paint topics in the forum but didn't really find a conclusive answer. I've attached pics of some...
