I know there have been many posts in the past regarding replacement shocks for the M101 trailers, but I can’t find any recent threads regarding this subject. The main direct replacement shock that everyone seems to have agreed upon is the Monroe 32283, which has been discontinued. The Monroe...
LFHoward,
I brought the leg into the post office and they weighed it. They told me $40 should cover it. Less, if you can get it in one of their flat-rate boxes (I tried with the boxes they had and it wouldn’t fit). So, if you still want to get rid of it for shipping costs.......how does $40...

I'm going to take my leg to the post office tomorrow and see what shipping would be. If it's reasonable, I'll probably take you up on your offer. Thanks!
The landing leg on my trailer is broken and bent to one side. I want to straighten it and weld it back together. Is the leg made from galvanized steel? What considerations do I need to take into account to weld it? I plan to use a 220v mig welder. Thanks!
Thanks for the replies. I would buy a set of racks/bows for the M101 if I could find some reasonably priced. The only complete set I found was on eBay, and the guy wanted $600 for them!
I recently purchased a decent M101A2 trailer, and would like some racks and bows for it. I found an M105 whose owner is willing to sell me the entire stake/rack set of three (no bows) for $125. I know they won't fit as is, but I'd like to use the vertical stakes to make my own rack system. I...
Does anyone have any tips or pictures regarding installing new canvas onto the rear bench seat assembly? I have a new, undrilled, rear seat frame and would like some tips for installing the seat covers. What is the spacing on the screw holes/grommets? The canvas is pretty darn tight trying to...
All,
I had the radiator overhauled. It was filled with gunk and had a small leak. The radiator came out great. I installed it this past weekend and now the jeep runs at 160-180 degrees. I also back-flushed the engine block before reinstalling the radiator.
Thanks for all the great advice!
My A1 overheats (goes past 200 degrees) and boils-over within 10 minutes of idling. I've changed the thermostat - no help. I haven't checked the timing or carb adjustment, but the jeep starts and runs great, so I don't know how it could be a timing or carb issue. Looking in the radiator fill...
Hello,
I just bought my first running M38A1 which I plan to slowly restore. Other than the TM's, which jeep manuals are the best? I've heard mixed reviews on the "CJ Rebuilders Guide". Is this a good one to have for the M38A1?
I'm in the process of a frame-up resto on a 43' GPW. It's my first. Consequently, I'm learning many new skills. One of which is using a MIG welder. I think I'm pretty good at it, but now I'm at the point of welding all the frame cracks, specifically at the location of the front and rear spring...
