thanks again Jim, ive had this welder for years and just recently pulled it out of the shed where it has sat for 20+ years. plugged it in and it worked great. Bought it used in 1980. already have the 002a. just been playing with its versatility. thanks again for the input!
Thanks Jim, I was calculating the current based on the voltage of the secondary of the transformer. Most definitely light duty use only. My biggest concern was the transient current spike when striking an arc. Any idea if a dc welder draws less current or a shorter spike when striking an arc...
hello all, im looking to see if anyone is using the -002a for powering a welder for light duty applications. the venerable lincoln 225 in the 70-100 amp range. dont know how the -002a will handle the initial arc strike. think the secondary on the transformer is 35 vac. within the output of the...
after going through all the connections the genset has good output :) thanks for all the input. my meters, Hz, voltage and percent of power not working. there is a jumper in the wiring diagram between pins 8 and 9, it is not jumped on my vr board. does anyone know if some boards omitted this...
Thanks Ike, haven't heard megger in a long time. my first career was in electronics, mostly R&D video applications and power supplies for aircraft use, that was 15 years ago. don't have a megger but i can dust off the old Leader scope and use a freq generator and power supply to "ring" the...
mep-002
hello Jerry, i flashed the field a couple of times, going to monitor the voltage as Ike suggested while flashing and go from there. do need another part, ill email you about it. thanks
mep-002
ill check if there is a spike in the voltage when the starter switch is engaged while running. don't know if this generator was ever idled. i'll make some quick checks on the voltage reg panel. It does not appear to be all that complicated of a board. thanks all for the suggestions.
Hello all, i have a mep-002 with 60 hz at conveninece outlet but no voltage. the frequency is adjustable 50hz to 78hz and steady. thought someone may have an idea of where to start trouble shooting before i begin. thanks in advance
002
Ok, generator now works great. timed and installed proper button and the engine runs great. someone along the way also doubled the mounting shims, i suspect swaping parts at one point. now in the process of removing this engine and installing a rebuilt that was picked up from GL norfolk...

wildchild congrats on new house. most likely plunger and button. appeared to be some signs of varnish on the plunger. the pump was NOS when purchased a month or so ago. no telling how long it sat on a shelf.
