    998 6.2L Fan Clutch/Overheating Issue

Ok, So Ive been dancing around the possiblity of cracked cylinders or blown head gasket, mostly because I just dont want to admit it to myself. However, a couple of questions, How common is the issue on a low mileage engine, there was no loss of coolant prior to the boil over, and no white...

    998 6.2L Fan Clutch/Overheating Issue

Thanks RetiredWarHorses, Yes the pics are bad and yes, I was correct the first time I installed the CV. I'll be switching it back and pulling the fan and fan clutch this weekend to service the O-ring, I'm also replacing all of the lines and fittings for good measure. Its odd to me that the fan...

    998 6.2L Fan Clutch/Overheating Issue

Yes, the fluid will definitely boil over. The gauge seems to be fairly accurate. I would have thought TDM or switch also, but when you unplug the TDM , the fan still doesnt engage always. So, it leads me to believe that the TDM or switch are good, or at least not the only thing that is bad...

    998 6.2L Fan Clutch/Overheating Issue

Hi Friends, Based on the threads I have researched here, the cooling systems on the 998's can have numerous gremlins to chase. I have an issue that doesnt seem to map on to any one threads so far, so I would love some input. My issue started as an intermittent overheating issue, here is...

    Electric Hummer ?

It would be interesting to see a drop-in electric powertrain for a HMMWV. It would be possible to house the drive train and the battery bank in the tunnel and fender wells. It would certainly be cooler than the Bolinger.

Maryland State Inspection- HMMWV registered as an AM General Pickup

Does anyone have any thoughts on, or maybe has tried, organizing in a way similar to the Civil Air Patrol? We have these awesome vehicles with abilities, unlike other passenger cars. Police Departments, and Aid and rescue organizations all over are purchasing HMMWVs for use in SAR and swift...

M998 Fuel Issue - Runs great then dies - HELP!

Ok guys, Thanks again for the advice, I think I may have sorted it out. I was thinking about the return line restriction, and after blowing the return line through with pressurized air and getting positive confirmation that they were clear, (hearing bubbles in the gas tank), I concentrated on...

M998 Fuel Issue - Runs great then dies - HELP!

Action - If the top of the IP is the problem then I will again kick myself for not listening to you the first time you mentioned it in another thread! So, what are you thinking? Would the fuel shut off solenoid cause such an issue? I purged the return lines with a compressor all the way to...

M998 Fuel Issue - Runs great then dies - HELP!

Yes, fresh diesel and the IP was a twelve volt HD but I swapped out the top cover to make sure the fuel shutoff solenoid was 24V and that the appropriate electrical connections were there, other than that I couldn't find any differences in the 2 IP's. All of the other parts swapped over perfectly.

M998 Fuel Issue - Runs great then dies - HELP!

Ok Guys, A quick update. Unfortunately, I did not have the wires reversed, I thought that was going to be it! I even referenced the wiring schematics to cross-check the metal ID plates on the wires and they were correctly connected. So, now I'm thinking more about the restricted return...

M998 Fuel Issue - Runs great then dies - HELP!

Thank you, guys! I did not replace the fuel filter, so that is on the list. I was also thinking of adding another inline pressure gauge to the line coming from the filter. Might be nice to know inbound and outbound pressure in the future. I will check the wiring, it's completely possible...

M998 Fuel Issue - Runs great then dies - HELP!

Hi All, I have searched the forums and have not found the exact issue I am experiencing. If I missed it please forgive me! Anyways here it goes: I have a 1985 M998 with the NA 6.2L motor. For the most part, it is in excellent condition, really well maintained. When I got it, it would...

New or refurbished Injector Pump, where...?!

Action-So true! It Ohm'd alright and having the engine not shut off, wasn't the problem, keeping it running was, but you are completely right. Luckily I guess swapping that part out is fairly easy compared to a total IP replacement. I will try and look at the bright side.

New or refurbished Injector Pump, where...?!

Well, doing it was easy, but I'm halfway through the re-install process on the IP. (I had to replace the number 4 fuel line and I'm still waiting on it) and I work outside and at night, so the weather is a big issue for me getting anything done. I'll definitely update on that once I get it...
