I've learned from others on this forum and had great success with just a tiny amount of Slime on the seal, just as a precaution. It fills in any unevenness or scratches if present.
And I second DREDnot's opinion in his post. As long as you don't have to mess with the run flats, pretty simple...

Very good point. Sorry to hear you lost a tire. I don't think it was solely because of the low pressure. It may have expedited, but according to the government ALL Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires older than 5 years are considered to be unserviceable... If you have others, I would consider...
Bled the system one more time this morning, did not help.
I have noticed there is just not enough boost/power to go around for brakes AND steering at idle. It gets better at higher rpm.
Now I am trying to figure out is it more likely some o-rings in the power steering pump or hoses, the pump...
UPDATE:
at least fixed the temperature indication. I inadvertently pulled the lead from the temp sending unit right next to the low pressure hose near the back of the pump.
Also, now noticing a low level chirp when at idle, never hear that before. Definitely pulley, belt related, but sounds...
Hey all,
We've been having some dreaded power steering woes, slowly building up to PS failure yesterday and some maintenance not helping thus far.
Hardware:
1999 M1123, single pump/reservoir, serpentine belt.
Dex III fluid level perfect at all times, fresh fluid (6 months).
Cooling fan came...
Welcome to the forum.
Yes, you are running a great chance of sucking foreign material into the crankcase. Slim, but catastrophic if/when it happens... The replacement is relative cheap for around $60, or $70 for the DWF style with extra port (to nowhere unless you reinstate the entire system)...
I found on my M1123 the throttle return spring at the end of the pull cable was stretched, replaced it and went from 1050 rpms to 700rpms at idle. That made a big difference, then fixed my Cadillac valve, thermostat and Time Delay Module. That gave me a huge bump... Went from 12 to 14.5. I know...
Other comments are:
Not much space for the driver.
They didn’t spend much on comfort, huh?
How does it do on the trails?
One that sometimes bother me a little bit:
Is this a H1?
Or they call it a Hummer. But I’m never put off enough to not talk with anyone about it.
Edit: My M1123 4...
Keep in mind, the fan never really stops, just slows down some, not that much, when it' snot engaged. You notice when it engages at operating temperature that it becomes loud and more air is moved... You can't miss it when it engages. Don't assume it's not disengaged because it is still spinning...
Try to list your tasks I am sure most of these fine folks here have started where you are and succeeded. Download the TM from this site. 90% of all tasks can be done by a somewhat skilled mechanic with a decent toolbox. The manuals are written for highschool graduates to understand if you...
I used the Bando 8PK2490, which is 249 cm (2490 mm) equals to 98 inches... It works quite well for my 1999 M1123:

In my case the most upper pulley attachments bolt was lose, but still held everything in place. It also pushed the belt forward a bit due to the incorrect angle. You can barely notice the alignment when looking, but when I removed the belt it rattled around. Didn't cause my belt to tear, but...
I tried an alternate version of this, worked pretty good. Not as fast as this gentleman, but still easy. Then Feltz tires offered 90% with rims as quoted earlier and haven’t touched run flats again.
