The G80 Locking rear diff is a score... although I suspect most of the late model mil-spec trucks have them. They use a synthetic gear oil with no additive, Ive seen them lock, and not want to unlock, thats usually your clue that the fluid needs service Its a true locker and not just a limited...

You hit the nail on the head... Even when buying cars I generally shy away from anything north of Maryland. I know with military stuff it may not be the same situation (who knows where some of the stuff lived its life.) old habits die hard though.
