CUCV - Slow cranking when cold

Update: I got this fixed a while ago and forgot to post about it. I tested the batteries and the back battery was noticeably weaker than the front, it dropped to 10.5v where the front dropped to 11.5v when I activated the 100amp battery tester. I replaced it and it cranked better but still had...

CUCV - Slow cranking when cold

Wouldn’t both of those involve cranking slowing and then stopping, it’s the speeding back up that puzzles me.

CUCV - Slow cranking when cold

I have a M1009 that has developed a problem starting when the engine is cold. When I first get in and try to crank it, it starts off at normal speed and within a few revolutions slows until its nearly stopped. I typically let it starter cool at this point. If I hold the key it will barely roll...

    Electrical Part 1599225

I moved the 24v bus bar on the firewall over one hole so I could free up a post to let me convert the 24v radio bus to 12v so I could put a typical HF radio in. When I was taking the cables off I found pn 1599225 between the 24v and ground busses and it’s jacked up. I couldn’t find it with...

Adapter for a 4 pin trailer harness?

I happened to have the 4 pin packard plugs used on the tail light harness to trailer plug connection. I made a new harness that replaced the stock trailer plug adapter that fit a 4 pin trailer plug.

I was charged $30 to tent camp from Friday - Sunday for our family (2 adults + 2 little kids.) Granted we weren’t selling anything, they didn’t ask though.

Add Trans Temp Gauge. Where to Locate Sender?

That’s the kick down solenoid, there is a pipe plug with a square head above and ahead of it. It’s shown in the TM for making line pressure measurements.

Add Trans Temp Gauge. Where to Locate Sender?

I've seen recommendations for using the 1/8 npt line pressure port on the drivers side of the transmission, that's where I plan to install my gauge.

Official NC Denton Rally 24-28 apr 2019

My family had a great time. Made some new friends at the MKT, ate good food, rode cool vehicles and had lots of fun. The Huey was my highlight and my kids liked the 274 rides the best. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4lrAP7REwQY&feature=youtu.be...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Motor pool paint job. I pulled a few dents, fixed a soft spot on the top, sanded 120grit, washed, masked, sprayed. Did body work Saturday and masked, Sunday sprayed two coats of green then brown and finished with black. I’m super color blind so it was really hard. I used Behr paint per the...

Official NC Denton Rally 2019 buy/sell

I’m looking for a med towbar with feet that fits my CUCV. Im possibly interested in a replacement TH400 for said CUCV, pending letting someone else drive it and get their opinion if it’s slipping or just how they are. I have a crew BDAR kit I’d part with to get money for the above items...

    Transmission slipping??? on CUCV

If the bands were slipping wouldn’t it rev over the converter stall rpm at a standstill? The shifts are also firm. It reminds me of driving my dad’s Corolla w/ a CVT. Engine stays in the torque band and the car accelerates. Feels mushy / slushy if you jab the throttle. Is ~1700 the correct TC...

    Transmission slipping??? on CUCV

I hate to necro bump but my M1009 on 33’s drives similarly to above. I can’t tell if the trans is slipping or if that’s just how it is, it’s the only M1009 I’ve ever driven. Seems fine on the road, at lower speeds the engine jumps to 1700 rpm and sits there until the truck catches up and then it...
