Good looking truck foxtrk2. Mine is pretty good shape but my life has a few priorities before the truck work can begin.
What is the difference between the M56A1 and M56B1?
Foxtrk2 did you have someone refurbish the electrical control panel? If so, what type of company does that kind of work...
I'm not familiar with a designation of M201, but my truck is a M56B1 and is a Contact Maintenance Truck with the Generator/Welder mounted in a aluminum box body. My understanding is that this is the basic M37 with an extended frame, as also used in the ambulance version. I "think" this frame...
Good joke. But it did get us thinking and that's good. :jumpin: May save an engine.
The real thing on a F250 was something I never want to experience again. The sound and the huge volume of black smoke is hard to describe. Turning the key to off did nothing and the engine was sucking engine...
Glad the M37's were saved. They are in good hands with PapaBear. The trucks will probably wind up with OD paint but has anyone ever thought about restoring one to fire department condition. The tanker conversion looks good.
Yes, now I understand. The ladder mount is inside the vehicle, not on the top. If those are photo's of a restored truck, then the owner certainly has my respect and admiration for a job well done. Interesting that the chain drive for (I assume) the hose reel is exposed. Probably couldn't do...
What was the intended purpose of having the angled raised roof/top portion? Headroom for personnel moving about inside? Angled mounting for foam nozzles? I have looked at all the pictures posted or linked and only found one photo of an original that appeared to have a mounted nozzle yet...
Welcome to SS from an ex-lurker. Sounds like you have been patient, done your reading and know the ropes. As you have discovered there is a huge treasure of information to be found in this site. Again, Welcome.
I sure would like to know if some mv caring person was able to get this truck. I agree that it must be a V41 as I have a M56B1 and this truck is not a contact maintenance truck. All the parts of the truck except for the box should be the same as the M37. And the frame is slightly extended in...
I thank you for saving a part of our history. Apparently there are none of these that have been restored and available for examination and measuring? If not then all the more reason to restore these carts.
