Mine still has all the parts, but the controller in rear quit. So I used a manual knob with lock to take its place. You have to adjust it for the load, but it would let you use the generator. If you are interested, I could post some pictures.

Thanks. The one I have found is a 30 gal. Tank and they have all the hardware to go with it. As you said, the tank must hang lower than the smaller one so I guess I’ll have to give it a try.
M1009 Blazer Fuel tank upgrade
Has anyone ever tried to use the larger fuel tanks from a suburban? I have called around and found one from a auto recycler in my area. They tell me that the blazer and suburban share the same tanks. Any thoughts? I'm particularly concerned about ground clearance...
That's what I was thinking I would use it for normally, but living so close to the gulf and knowing how long it takes to get power restored after a hurricane it just seemed logical to use this truck as a backup power supply.
As for some pictures, I would love to see what other have done with...

If running your whole house off this generator is not the best use of this truck, why are they so popular and hard to come by? What are everyone else using theirs for?
