I did a spontaneous purchase of INI Power Systems IG1000-ICMF. I’m a little confused on what fuel it’s supposed to run on. The internet says it can run on anything. The label says JP-8 only. Can I run it on diesel? It did start for me after several tries, but it smokes a lot. Anyone knows what might be the issue?

Most things that run on JP-8 will run just fine on diesel fuel. Diesel isn't quite as clean as JP-8, but that usually isn't an issue for most engines.

If it were mine I would start putting a load on it and see if it runs any better. Diesel engines like to run hot to properly burn the fuel, so put as much load on it as it runs well with, run it a while and see if it cleans up.

Ignore the label and run gasoline in it. It's a modified Yamaha i1000 generator. If you run diesel the plug will foul frequently and unburnt fuel will seep past the rings, diluting the oil and causing it to be overfull. That's why it smoke so bad.
If you run diesel or JP8 it will need a lot of maintenance.

Too bad, I checked the needle valve in carb and replaced a fuel pump which is apparently a common cause of fuel in oil, but that did not change anything.

Yeah, I changed the oil, ran the generator for 20 minutes, and checked the oil level again and it was pouring from the fill hole. I'll try running it on gas, and see if that fixes the issue.
