Has anybody used any of the windshield polishing kits? My M1028 has the original windshield, which is in excellent condition without any cracks or scratches, however it does have a few areas of haze here & there. I am considering a kit from Eastwood but would like to have comments from previous users of the product before I take the plunge. Pro Glass Polishing Kit | Eastwood Auto

Thanks in advance for comments.

Well, i dont know about this exact product, we used Meguiars, best available in europe.. We tried to polish very small scraches here, in MB service. Results are not so good. If polish too little, haze/scratches stay, if too much, glass gets "optical or loop" effect. Very visible.

Are you sure, this haze is not between glass (delaminating)?

Thanks for your reply. The haze is indeed on the exterior surface and appears to be some slight discoloration from something which may have dripped on the windshield while the truck was in the motor pool. Windex & 0000 steel wool will not budge it. It's only slight, so you can't see it unless looking in a reflecting light position. It's located in the middle of the windshield at centerline, so it is not absolutely necessary to rectify, but maybe I'm just too picky. I suppose I could just live with it, but hail, I've come this far so there's no sense in giving up now.

Then just try this product. Dont get glass hot (if you use power drill thing) and dont push too hard. Do some 2...3 minutes polish and then clean glass with water, let it cool and repeat.

A while back i was clay barring paint and decided to try it out on the windshield. Don't know that it would remove haze, but does remove a lot of other contaminants! I now do all glass when i do the paint (annually)

Would think you'd have to buff glass out after using steel wool..... Numerous glass polish products available, but no personal experience....

Thanks for the replies from everybody. Y'all may find this hard to believe, but an old painting contractor told me to clean the glass using Windex and newspaper. Plain old newspaper from last week. I had my doubts, but man, this method absolutely cleans glass and removes all haze and other surface contaminates. He indicated that there is something in the ink used in newspaper which works in conjunction with the roughness of the paper, and that he had been using the method to clean glass for over 50 years. I am a believer now. Just wad-up a big hand-full of newspaper, spray Windex on the glass, and scrub like hail. It works. My original 1984 windshield now looks brand new. Just thought I would share this trick.
